I received no direction as to "how to" clear the codes nor how to reset the battery in order for me to get the remote to work. Therefore, I had to then go online to research how to clear codes, etc. without any help from the company who specializes in this remote. Furthermore, the company was passing me off to just go to a dealer or locksmith if I couldn't figure out how to program their remote! Unbelievable. Before doing my research, here was my response back to Remotesremotes.com:
"The purpose of me buying this remote from you was so that I could program it myself rather than spend a load of money taking it to a professional. Otherwise, I may as well bought the $80 remote from the dealer rather than waste the twenty bucks I spent on this one from your company.
This seems to be a common problem with your remote. Since this is the case, directions on HOW TO clear the codes or reset the battery would be more helpful than directing me to a dealer or professional locksmith.
I'll see what I can do on my own. If I cannot, how can this item be returned to you without more cost to me?"
Well, I didn't get my answer to my last question either. They gave me an address to return the item but no guarantee when I would get my money back nor were they going to pay for my shipping to send it back to them. In a nutshell, I would NOT recommend this product or any product from this company.
1. enter car, shut door, apply parking brake.
2. while holding down the door unlock switch turn the key from the OFF position to the ON position and back twice quickly (from off to on to off to on to off) and then release door unlock button.
3. hold down lock and unlock buttons on remote until locks cycle (took 15 seconds) repeat this step for every remote you have.
4. turn key forward to ON position, horn sounds and locks cycle. DONE.
I also tried to use a SnapOn Modis scan tool to program the passenger door module (this controls the keyless entry) and could not. I could read the module but could not enter the programmking area. I did this before I learned that the parking brake may need to be set first, and didn't try it with the brake set. It may very well work once the brake is set also.
Note: When you program the remote, realize that it will erase any remotes that were previously stored in the vehicle's memory. So if you have one or more existing remotes, by programming this new remote, you will erase your existing remotes. In order for all your remotes to work, you need to program all your remotes during the same programming sequence. That is not difficult, you just need to know to do this otherwise the only remote that will work is the one you just programmed.
Once things are paired the remote works great.
It did take several attempts AND READING instructions to perfect
start with new remote programming AND Any other remotes you have at the time of programming with you.
Follow steps 1 to 4
now read the paragraph.
First remote hold LOCK & UNLOCK until the lock cycles
THEN.......Do the same for the next... JUST press the LOCK & UNLOCK on the next remote until lock cycles and go to the next remote
THEN after the last one turn key to ON position then OFF
Then test all buttons on All Remotes.
Don't mind the Bright Blue either.
We will order another for a spare for $23.99
