100 times better than fluorescent lights (instant on, dimmable, look better and they are smaller).
If you buy them directly from the supplier, expect a week or more to arrive, as they come from China. But for the price, they are worth it. Even comparing them to 25W candelabra bulbs, they are 4 times more efficient (and they are definitely brighter than a 25W). I would assume they are closer to 40W bulbs. AKA, if you are replacing 40W bulbs you will be happy. If you are replacing 60W bulbs, they might be a little dim for you.
To answer the question, we now have 3 dead bulbs within 6 months.
We REALLY like these bulbs - not as daylight white as we want (about 4000K, not the 5000K we prefer - easier to see with older eyes), but here's my story.
We ordered the bulbs and waited....and waited.....and waited...at least 30 days until Amazon sent us an email asking if we had received the bulbs, because they had not been notified of the delivery. We said no, were contacted by the vendor who was very pleasant to talk to, and received the bulbs about 2-3 weeks later. This is to be expected on occasion coming from China - I have had other stuff lost that never made it through Chinese customs.
My husband installed 5 bulbs, and the second I turned on the lights, one bulb shorted and threw the circuit breaker. That's one down. We contacted the vendor, who said they would send a replacement, which we never received - but we didn't follow up either. We bought these bulbs to replace the bulbs in our kitchen ceiling fan, because we were tired of replacing the bulbs very few months. Today, my husband pulled out the tall ladder again (our kitchen ceiling is vaulted) to see why 2 more bulbs weren't lit. Here's what he found:
Thinking the bulbs might have come lose in the fixtures.....our ceiling fan has intermediate "B" bases, which don't fit any LED bulbs we have been able to buy, so are using screw-in adapters to enable us to use Candelabra based bulbs....he tightened them. One lit up and one did not - which he determined was indeed dead.Read more ›
These LED's do throw off a warm light- which is not typical of the LED style
They have a nice sturdy look to the build quality (only been a week though)
They come in just a little bit dimmer than the 40w incandescents I was replacing, but nowhere near the advertized 60w
They're a little taller & bulkier than the incandescents
Bottom line is that they do use 80% less energy, but they don't rate anywhere near a 60w bulb, so if you need that type of light, do not waste your time/money, but if an old 40w was ok, this should work. I paid $52 for this 6 pack, but I won't buy any more until the price comes down another $10, OR the claimed wattage is accurate at 60w.

The light color is excellent, and the brightness is adequate. But the heat dissipation is terrible, they get even hotter than a comparable incandescent. Read morePublished 6 months ago by J. Bradley Hicks
