UPDATE #2: I don't understand why the Chinese sellers are attempting to take over this sales description. If you want the warm-white (2700K) bulb that I and others like, buy only from Martek, the real supplier of this bulb, or from TKOLighting, who will send you the real Martek bulb.

=================================

UPDATE: I attempted a reorder of these bulbs, and for some reason the order went to SupaDealOnline. They sent something other than the Martek bulbs that are described here, and my experience matched the description provided by David J Banks (below). I am returning those bulbs as "not what I ordered/not what was described." Be careful that you get the Martek bulbs, as described here. Otherwise, you may be disappointed.

=================================

I have been looking for a LED replacement for my 12V - 25W Edison-style incandescent bulbs for my boat. I have been casually looking for a couple of years, never to find a bulb that had a 360-deg illumination. All others that I found are 180-deg, which do not illuminate in the direction of the fixture, leaving it dark in that direction. I found these online, and ordered one to test. Here are some of my comments:

Martek provides a spec sheet (I posted it here) that says that these bulbs are A15 size, rather than A19 (2-3/8 dia), as advertised here on Amazon. I measured my bulb, and it is more like an A16 (2-in dia). This was a concern to me, because I have clip on sconce shades. The clip still works, so no problem. You need to know that these bulbs are smaller than the standard A19.

Another concern that I had was the rated CRI of 75.

I bought this bulb for use in a 'power-outage' lamp I was making where it would be powered by 8 AAA batteries. Not only did it work, it worked better than I expected! This bulb gave off light equal to a 30watt bulb in the same directions as an incandescent bulb. This bulb seems to have a smart circuit so that it will light regardless of the power feed's polarity. Positive to Positive or positive to ground mine still lit up just as bright either way.

Works great - draws .39 amps @ 12.6 volts = 4.9 watts as advertised.

Great for emergency lighting - put it in a table lamp - replace the plug with some hippo clips and you're ready for the next hurricane.

I'ts brighter than a 12 watt flourescent CFL - and it looks like a real light bulb

Pricy, though

These bulbs are an absolute lifesaver when your idiot landscaper installs standard 110v lamps in your front yard, wires them into your 12VAC landscape lighting system, and pours concrete over the whole thing. They fit the standard socket (same as a traditional full-sized household bulb), and are full sized and normal shape so they look right too. The photos of the product have a logo on the top of the bulb. The actual bulbs I received had no logos - just white glass. Be aware that they give off a much whiter light than an incandescent bulb. Personally, I like it but some might find it a bit harsh and they could look odd if you have other lights that are more yellow.

Bought this for my off grid cabin that I have set up on a 12v solar system. Installed in a regular wall swing arm lamp above my chair and provides just enough light with out using a lot of electricity!!

I am on my second go round with this product. Thought my first time was a fluke, and unfortunately i have 3 more bulbs on order. after two or three days of use in a 12volt system in my camper. The bulbs first to appear to over heat and WORK INTERMITTENT. Then on the third or forth day they STOP WORKING COMPLETELY. If there are any answers to this ISSUE that would be great, butt at this time I feel as though this is a very poor designed BULB or PRODUCT.

If the character of the light is something that matters to you, think twice about this product. I use these kind of lights in accent fixtures on my deck. (The low voltage is the requirement there.) The incandescents I've used threw off a warm glow. These LEDs, however, produce a harsh white light -- something like gas-station-bathroom florescent, circa 1975. I've been hoping for substitutes that might produce an energy savings in my existing fixtures without such an ambience compromise, but no luck so far.

Many buyers won't have a use like mine, and these lights might be fine for them, but not so much in a decorative setting.

I've had 7 of these bulbs in landscape lighting fixtures around my pool. I was hesitant to spend this much for a bulb because the fixtures are not enclosed and the bulbs are exposed to water in windy rain storms. The circuit boards in LED lights can't get wet. These bulbs must be sealed or protected pretty well. After 3 months they are still working fine. They burn for 6 hours/day on a timer. Nice soft white light; these lights are brighter and more white than the low-voltage 25 watt incandescent bulbs they replaced. I'll update this review if I have any problems, but I'm beginning to get my hopes up that they may last 50,000 hours...
