I have been using chia seeds in my smoothies and juices for at least a year, and have heard how good they are for you, but Chia Vitality shows you just how powerful this little seed can truly be. I love the author's recipes and ideas for incorporating chia into nearly any meal (I never thought to use chia gel as an egg substitute), as well as her practical, easy-to-follow advice to how to achieve more vitality through exercise and meditation. Highly recommend!!!

Chia Vitality By Janie Hoffman

Well, What a surprise this book was. I was expecting more of a recipe/ information book specifically about Chia, the little wonder seed. I have consumed the seed for years, and wanted to learn more about it. The author, Janine Hoffman is founder of MaMa Chia, knows a thing or two about Chia seeds combined with wellness in general and shares well researched and very logical views on both. I wasn't disappointed and as a matter of fact, I have started to take the time and use this book as it was written to be, a 30 days to wellness learning book.

She speaks of vitality in many areas of wellness, beginning with, of course, writing about the seed and it's attributes, history and antioxidant features. She moves then, into other areas of life, linking them to the attributes of Chia such as discovering attitudes and creating awareness in life's balance, then follows with intriguing, and easy to follow 30 day guided cleanse, complete with meal plan, food facts and recipes. She has a discussion of balance in many areas, which is simple and perfectly appropriate for the book, as is very good lesson on exercise with suggestions to get you moving. I loved that she included a substantial and integral mention on being part of a community and helping others. It's a keeper. I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review

Janie Hoffman's book provides an easy-to-use and safe protocol for trying out a new program to improve your life with nutrient packed foods and mindful living -- a bonus is the author's conversational style that is engaging and easy to read. I have added chia into my diet and it really gives me a natural boost. I happen to be one of those people that has a lot of difficulties with flax seed. I have experienced none of those problems with this program. Thanks to the author for bringing this ancient grain back into our consciousness. I love the book and I love chia!

As a fellow autoimmune sufferer, I found Janie's personal story really inspirational and motivating. Her tips are easy to follow and can be realistically fit into my busy lifestyle. My favorite quote - "One of the reasons I'm so crazy about chia is that it offers so much but asks so little of you." LOVE it - and love this book!

This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn more about the health benefits of chia. This is an incredible real and raw account of Janey's personal health journey and how chia seeds supported her return to health. There are many nuggets of wisdom throughout and I have given copies of this book to numerous friends with similar health challenges.

I have seen chia seeds in the health foods store, and had heard others talking about the nutritional value of incorporating chia into your diet, but I really had no understanding of how to do so. This book was very educational for me.

I really liked some parts of this book. I thought the section explaining about why chia seeds are so good for us was very informative and well-written. The best part of it was the recipes and how to incorporate chia seeds into your diet in a very easy and accessible way. I've been searching for great tasting vegan salad dressings and I was impressed with Hoffman's explanation of how to use chia gel to thicken salad dressings in a healthier way.

The least effective part of this book for me was the sections where Hoffman encouraged readers to take up yoga and meditation. There were no pictures of the yoga poses, so I think readers with no experience with yoga would be hard pressed to replicate them. I am also not personally interested in meditation and would have enjoyed more recipes.

If you are interested in making positive changes to your lifestyle and are mystified about the hype around chia and want to learn more about the health benefits of chia, this is a great introductory book. It will give you more information about chia than you ever imagined!

This book is a great starting point to better health. The suggestions are easy to incorporate into your life, and the recipes I’ve tried so far have been delicious. I hadn’t tried chia before, but I now understand why it’s become so popular.

I found this to be a great read and worth picking up. What I loved about Janie's approach is that she delivers a realistic approach on how to incorporate the ideas in her book into your everyday life. The ideas are about building a solid foundation that enables you to always come back to as life is never easy and the best laid plans can be easily uprooted and throw you off your game. If you establish a solid foundation as she outlines then you know you can always come back to it when life settles a bit.
