Handle snapped on the first cut!

I just bought this set based on the good customer reviews. I attempted to cut a pineapple today with the largest knife and the handle literally snapped off while making the first cut. This was also the first time I even used this particular knife. I tested the others to see if this was indeed a bad set and they all held strong and showed no sign of bend or fatigue. When looking at the break point, I noticed that the steel was dark and almost rusted in color. I'm summing this up to a manufacturer's defect. I'm just glad the blade didn't fall and strike my leg or foot.

I bought this knife set, and for the most part it's been pretty great, however, last night, the first time I used the smaller blade stamped 6c16F, it literally snapped in half while cutting a fresh brussel sprout. If I was actually using force, I could have been seriously injured. The inside of the metal where it snapped was half black, and you don't need to be a smith to see it's a severe flaw. I'm hoping to get this blade replaced, the rest seem fine, but wow, pretty damn disappointing.

Cutting fresh celery (not frozen or anything) and one of the large knives broke right at the handle. If you look at the metal shaft in the black handle, you can see that the metal is two different colors. I assume that the quality of the metal is extremely poor. In my opinion, I do not believe the metal blade is the same metal used for the handle. I have had no issues with the blades at all but having a weak handle does not allow pressure to be applied to knife.
I do not or have not abused these knives. I wash and hand dry the knives each and every time. Never in a dish washer. Then I let them sit out several hours before storing them back in the wooden block.
VERY disappointed in Chicago Cutlery!

After my original Amazon posting, Corelle Brands customer service left a response to my Amazon review to get in contact with them and so I did. After contacting Corelle Brands, it was evident to me that they were determined to ensure my frustration with their product was resolved. They were not able to replace my broken knife but they did offer a very generous credit in which I selected a different knife set, Armitage 16pc block set. The Armitage knives appear to be good quality and have a full tang (which the Fusion knives did not appear to have in the picture) but we will see how they work. But what really impressed me was Corelle Brands customer service! The representative, Suzanna, and I exchanged several emails until I made a choice from their selection of knives as my replacement set. The communication was quick and concise and delivery was also very fast. I must say that I commend Corelle Brands and the customer service representative, Suzanna, for their level of service and care that I had a resolution to my issue. I give Corelle Brands customer service 5 stars!!!!!
Thank you Corelle Brands for making it right.

Not much to say except look at the photos!!!!! Ive only had the knives for 7 months and do not use them daily and the handle breaks. Look at the other reviewers having the same issues. I would doubt this is a "one off" issue. Shame on Chicago Cutlery!By TSA on August 25, 2020

Not so good...A Real Review

I'm always concerned that the reviews I'm reading are fake, or by a competitor, or by a company-paid shill. Well, this one's real. I bought these knives about a 1.5 years ago, at the beginning of Covid. Must say, I was always a little worried about them. They look great, and have a nice comfortable handle, but something about them made me concerned for their durability. I NEVER put them in the dishwasher. It's not just good practice and unnecessary to do that, but I was also concerned about the sturdiness of the knife. Since we bought these knives, we have used our much older, and uglier, Farberware set for everyday use. They're cheap, but must say they are unbreakable. I tried to save these Chicago Cutlery knives for special occasions. So we didn't even use them that much. EVEN WITH ALL THAT... one knife just came apart a few months ago. Look at the picture...it's like it rotted/rusted where the handle meets the blade. I cannot seem to navigate the Chicago Cutlery website to find if they'll stand behind the knives. Will let you know in a follow up. Very very disappointed in this brand.

These knives are absolute garbage. We bought them in May and they're already falling apart. We've only hand washes these and they still broke. One snapped in my wife's hand while trying to cut cheese!

I bought this based on product on reviews and online product recommendations. These are sharp and look decent, but I’ve run into a few issues with these and would drive me to NOT recommend them to anyone. This set first arrived missing one of the main knifes out of the set. Amazon customer service was eventually kind enough to work with me and find a close enough replacement from a different brand to replace it. My main issue with this set is that the knives rust. I’ve only had the set about a month at this point, but already wish I’d gotten another brand.

I love this knife set. Are use it every single day. The knife in this picture is the one that I use most often. I hand wash them after I’m done using them and dry them as well. If you’re looking for a good quality knife set at an affordable price then I think he will be quite pleased with these. I know I certainly am.
