Editorial Reviews
Eric Alexander has been compared to Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins but here Eric explores the repertoire of another school of tenor playing the Chicagoans. With long-time collaborators Harold Mabern, Jon Webber and Joe Farnsworth Eric gives the nod to some Windy City players who helped shape the sound of jazz for decades Eddie Harris, Von Freeman and others.

Worth getting for Save Your Love For Me. What great playing by Eric. The whole album is good. There are a few spots in the audio where the right channel drops out for a fraction of a second (Save Your Love around 6:23 for example). No big deal just kind of odd. I check the back to see who let that slip and I see Rudy Van Gelder?!?! Well I guess he's almost 90... go figure

I've listened to the first cut, "Save Your Love For Me," dozens of times, and it just keeps getting better with its catchy rhythms and amazing solos. Every tune on this CD is great, and shows how Eric has developed such a warmth and relaxed nuanced expression along with his enormous chops.

I can't get enough of the smooth, robust tone that is the sound of Eric Alexander's tenor! I don't think there ever was a more pleasurable saxophone sound to listen to than his (though many are just as pleasurable)! Eric gives the listener a true experience in fast tunes on the track "Just One of those Things!" This track should be a part of any jazz sax player/student's listening library so he/she can be reminded of how to approach a fast tune. It is clear that Eric completely ignores any urges to tense up and lose track of the song he's playing by trying to simply "keep up." Instead, just beautiful lines and ideas flow freely from his horn in an effortless manner! I highly recommend this album, and can't wait for more!

I've been listening to Eric Alexander since his very first recording.
It's always a great pleasure to hear him, because he's getting better all the time
