Cleaning - Before I purchased these, I was buying aluminum pans in this size and trying to reuse them. If you think these are hard to clean --- try those some time, these are simply a joy! I soak them, then wash and yes, they are a bit of a pain to clean the creases but once cleaned and after you rinse, your oven should still be warm (if not, just turn it on warm for 15 min.) Throw these into the oven and let sit in the warm oven --- it will dry them faster and more thoroughly. It's better for the pans than putting them directly in a cupboard with moisture in them.
What I like most? I now have the same size loaf pans, made from the same material and it makes baking bread so much more precise. If you've ever made two loaves, one in glass and one in a metal pan, you know the difference in bake times and it just iritated me...so these are my fav. I also enjoy the fact that they stack neatly for better storage.
I wouldn't trade them and I'm sure as long as I dry them in the oven (a trick from my Grandma) we will have these for a long, long time.
I would probably not use these loaf pans for anything other than small gift cakes/bread. Although, if you have someone who prefers the exterior of a cake, this might be nice. There's a slightly smaller "bready inside" to "crusty exterior" ratio than in a normal sized loaf.
Minus one star because they get rusty fairly easily but it's no big deal -- just make sure to dry them thoroughly after washing and a little iron never killed anyone anyway!
