Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 6-12. With its familiar mix of the inspirational, the sad but heartwarming, and the sweetly funny, the Chicken Soup series turns to the audience of Christian teens. Grouped by subject ("On Faith," "On Loss and Grieving," "On Gratitude"), the stories, poems, and cartoons offer hope, comfort, and more than a few tears. Throughout, there's an emphasis on God working in surprising ways. In one selection, an anonymous teenager develops a stutter after a terrible beating but then discovers a calling as a music therapist as a result of the speech impediment. Many teens will relate to an anecdote about a young woman's struggles after being dumped by her boyfriend, though the connection between the breakup and Christianity is never made literal in her postbreakup search for comfort and meaning. Like the best selections here, her story is inspirational without being condescending or message heavy. The teenage writers' pieces will connect with the audience better than the selections written by adults, but even the grown-ups' nostalgic recollections have the air of authentic feeling. John Green

I never write reviews, but everyone needs to know how wonderful and what an impact this book can have on a person. I am not a very religious person, but I picked up this book and found, that being religious or not had nothing to do with enjoying and appreciating this book. I LOVED IT and could relate so much thank you KIMBERLY KIRBERGER, once again.

The minute I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. As an reader of the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul series I was blown away by this particular book. I found it inspiring and moving, making me laugh and even cry. I recommend it to any teenager who wants to feel more connected to Christianity and regain their sense of faith.

I really thought that the story about cheating, "The Test", was a valuable lesson for all students, regardless of faith. The structure and craftsmanship was equisite. Over all, I am tiring of this series but have alot of hope for it now. Well done, Ms. Ayers and Canfield/Hansen of course.
Once again, this series has made an outstanding contribution to the lives of people everywhere. In these troubled times, it is truly a blessing that this thoughtful volume has been provided for Christian teens everywhere.
The reason why this series has struck such a chord with readers across generations is the feeling of authenticity it generates within readers. My only criticism is that some of the stories sometimes seem a bit formulaic. A striking exception is found in the story "The Test", which involves the dilemma of a student who cheats on a school exam. The narrative pulls off the rare combination of being impecably written while still ringing true with its audience. As someone who works with young people on a regular basis, I know it will inspire my students for years to come. Thank you.

This book is so awesome. I love a lot it's one of my favorites! It's short stories are definitely page turner and I would recommend it to anyone. The stories are constantly talking about inspiration and hope.

It doesn't matter your belief or religion it's still a good book and has good advice for anyone. The poems and stories and occasional bible verses really taught to believe in myself and to be confident and to appreciate life.

I hope you enjoy reading and appreciating the meaningfulness of this book and if you enjoyed this book then you might enjoy reading Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul. There pretty similar but it's for all ages!

I absolutely love all chicken soup books and this one was equally amazing. I thought that Chicken Soup for the Christian Teenage Soup was very well written. The stories were very realistic and I think that anyone could relate to them. It covered everyday issues like school, family, friends, and just faith in general. In short this book is very heartwarming and can be read by most everyone.

My two teen-age granddaughters really enjoyed these little stories, and, of course, they are wholesome, so I'm happy to have them reading them. Like all the "Chicken Soup" series, this one has some gems. I highly recommend it.

My 16 yr old son is having a hard time, and these really seem to reach him. They let him know that he isn't the only one going through problems, and how to handle them in a 'Christian' manner. Thank you for this! I would recommend this to EVERYONE!

I read a story a night from this book after we read devotions at the dinner table. We all love the stories. Some of the stories our sad and make you think. Some are funny like the Lesson in Lavendar story which is one of our favorites on Compassion and Forgiveness. This story just happened to fit right with our Devotion readings from Sticky Situations 2 another great book. The book is geared for teens but we all can relate to the stories and enjoy them.
