Still as good as always

With all the conflicting information, I thought I’d clear things up. In the photos, the blue is an old bag, and the yellow is new. The new Chicobags original is exactly the same size and shape as my old ones, which I’ve had for at least fifteen years. The fabric has changed to a heavier, more durable polyester, while the old ones are very fine and soft. As such, I find it easier to roll, rather than stuff the new ones, back into the bag. This also minimizes wrinkles. The old ones weigh 1oz (30 grams) while the new ones weigh 1.4 oz (40 grams) without the carabiners. They are most definitely larger than a plastic grocery bag. I was hesitant to purchase a new bag, as there were so many complaints about them being smaller than they used to be, or the fabric seeming cheap, etc, but that is just not true. The fabric is different, not worse, and in some ways better. I always worried that library books would tear my old bags, but now I don’t worry about that at all. I do wish Chicobags would give us the option of that original fabric, as it is so soft and lovely, and stuffs into the bag to easily, but the new bags are still just as good, if slightly different.

I took all 4 shopping with me and was amazed at how many items I could stuff inside the bags. The handles aren't long enough to carry over your shoulder, they are designed for hand carry. This wasn't a problem for me, since I always push a shopping cart around the store and out to the car.
Over the 4th of July, my family went boating and these totes were amazing. I gave each grandchild one to put their wet and sandy gear in, then I put the filled totes on a beach towel in the back of my car to keep the inside clean and dry. At home, I emptied them out, rinsed the sand off with a garden hose and let them air out on the lawn furniture. Then I played a game with the grandchildren, see how fast you can stuff them back into their sack. They played that game for another 30 minutes!
I am so impressed with these totes and the ChicoBag brand, that I also ordered the Vita sized bag for our beach towels.

The ChicoBag reusable shopping totes are amazing, useful and good for the environment. Ordering was easy, the items arrived on time, were well packaged and easy to open. The 4 pack of bags come bundled inside of their integrated carrying bag; simply undo the opening, unfold and you are ready to fill them up. The bags are made of a good quality material, not flimsy like other brands I have purchased in the past. I really appreciate the attached carabiner clip, I have one clipped to the key clip on my purse. I carry the others in my car hooked together by their carabiner clips, ready to grab and go.By R. Made "Responsibly" in China

March 1 2020 is the day New York banned plastic shopping bags, so had to find portable reusable alternative, after watching documentary video about US entrepreneur who invented ChicoBag, decided to try them out, the bags have "Made Responsibly in China" paper tag on them, instead of receiving "Black" "Blue "Red and "Green" bags, what came in the package were Blue, Blue, Green & Red bags. The size of the bag when filled with groceries including handle is approximately: 21.5 inch height, 16 inch width and 8 inch depth. When stored in its own integrated pouch, the size of the pouch is about 4 inch height, 2.5 inch width and 1.75 inch depth. The material is similar to the fabric used in umbrellas & seems strong enough to hold groceries.

Poor quality for the price. Much worse than my Chicobags that are almost 10 years old. The new ones are smaller, nylon is rougher, stiffer and more noisy, the stitching feels like it might fall apart, and the handles are much shorter and impossible to carry on the shoulder for heavy loads. See picture for a comparison of the and old Chico (left) and new Chico (right) purchased on amazon.
