Just got this dispenser today and swapped my remaining Bakers and Chiefs plastic wrap from Sams Club into this really nice Chicwrap silver dots dispenser. The only difference between the Bakers & Chiefs and the Chicwrap dispenser is that the Ciicwrap looks first class on the counter top and the Bakers and Chiefs should stay in the pantry. The 500 sq ft Bakers & Chiefs plastic wrap and the supplied Chicwrap plastic wrap are exactly the same size in width. The two boxes are very close in size so a full roll of Bakers and Chiefs wrap should fit inside Chicwrap dispenser. They use the same slide cutters as well.
Like the other Chicwrap dispensers, the silver dots version is made of nicely covered cardboard and looks very nice sitting on our counter top. The 4.6 star rating of this product convinced me to buy it and no regrets.
In order to be able get a good even grip on the wrap to pull it out I keep a barbeque skewer laying on the top of the dispenser under the wrap. When wrap is wanted, lift the skewer under the wrap which makes grabbing the wrap much easier and pull out what is needed.

Yeah, just cardboard but at least it isn't very flimsy. Sooner or later it will get soak tested on my counter and I will be directing a lot of foul language at it, but for now it works way better than the fixed cutter on Saran Wrap boxes. I always end up in a big wrestling match and finish with an unusable wad of wrap when I try use the box cutter. This slidey thingamajig works pretty good, at least so far. Knock on wood. If you are all thumbs when trying to wrap something in clingy food wrap, you need this. It is not a durable high quality item but it is a game changer, nonetheless.

Ultimately this is a glorified cardboard box with a cutter attached to it, but that's fine. It works as you'd expect it to. However, don't make the same mistake I did. You have to attack the cutter to the box yourself, and you don't get much guidance on where you should put it, but it matters quite a bit.

The slit that the wrap goes through isn't centered on the top. It's offset slightly. This means it's important that you affix the cutter on the wide side, as far from the slit as possible, so you have something to grab to feed more wrap through after you cut it. If you don't do this, you're going to be fumbling around for a finger-hold on the wrap every time you use it. Wherever you stick the cutter, it's permanent. It doesn't adhere more than once.

Frustration-free plastic wrap dispenser

This is absolutely the best and most convenient plastic wrap dispenser ever. I have tried other dispensers, thinking they had to be better than the cardboard box the regular plastic wrap comes in, but this is the first one worth buying and keeping.

This dispenser with slide cutter works like a charm. It cuts cleanly and easily each time. No frustration.

The only slight problem I had was in the should-have-been-simple assembly. The directions said to attach the cutter to the top of the dispenser at the guides. Well, I couldn’t see any guides. After turning the dispenser this way and that and trying to look in the area where I figured the cutter should go, I finally made out a faint blue outline, barely visible in the design. Really, they could have made that a lot more visible.

Great product, simple, easy and the wrap it comes with is very durable. The only negative aspect I can see is when the roll gets lighter the box will start to slip when pulling the plastic out. I wish it had some kinda lighr suction cups at the bottom so you can pull the plastic out witb out having to worry about it moving. But that would reduce its mobility.. so eh..

This is a wonderful kitchen tool, used so frequently in our house that I need to keep it on the counter. It's heavy enough to stay in place while you pull the wrap over the food and the cutting clip is sharp and makes a clean cut. Simple and quick. I gave it four stars only because there is only one design that I am happy to leave on the counter to look at all day - I really would not buy the others. It should also be noted that when you buy more plastic wrap to put in the box, it can only be the roll which is the width of the box. The giant box of plastic wrap is too fat to fit in until you've used a lot of it.

I love this! Finally, I can cut a piece of plastic wrap without getting tangled up in it, having it stick to itself, me and anything else within 3 square feet! You actually get to use nearly 100% of the square footage of a roll of plastic wrap, not like when using the poorly designed package it came in, which I believe was created to make us waste 60% of the wrap within! It is made of heavy duty cardboard and the description probably states that, but I was so excited in anticipation of being able to cut a piece of plastic wrap without a ton of mess and stress, I put it in my cart and bought it! It's beautiful and works perfectly, I would highly recommend this to everyone who is frustrated every time they have to wrap a leftover.

Why isn't this product advertised in all my home and cooking magazines and why isn't it sold in grocery stores? I think I saw something like this (or may it was this) on a couple FoodNetwork shows. I can't believe I never purchased this sooner. I am sure you know how frustrating it is to pull the plastic wrap and it sticks to itself or it won't cut and you end up wasting more than you need to. This box alleviates all the problems of plastic wrap in from a flimsy paper box with a dull cutting tool. This is super easy - pull out what you need and slice it across. Super easy and less waste. Fabulous accessory and must have in all kitchens!
