Jeri is a strongly developed character who has shown a sense of independence, fire, and great compassion that, by what she runs into, ultimately harm her. And yet by being who she is, the tests she will go through will bring her through many coming trials that I can sense coming in the series.
And I hope this series will carry on for a long while. The author Fiona Skye is a beautiful storyteller and deserves all the praise and reward for her crafting.
This is the perfect book for lovers of supernatural, with gripping scenes, angels, demons and ghost and a couple of ghost/demon hunters with just the right amount of attraction to keep them going but not overtake the story.
Both main characters are very likable and most readers will be able to associate with them. Jerrilyn is a strong individual, roaming the United States, helping lost souls to cross over. What she doesn’t realise until she meets Travis, is that there is much more to her gift that she ever expected.
Travis opens a whole new world for Jerri, world that frightens her (well demons are scary), but at the same time invites her to finally find out more about her own roots and what really is the reason that she was put on this earth.
Fabulous book – I cannot praise it enough and I hope that the second installment isn’t going to take too long.
I love this genre. Ghost hunting, Angles and Demons, right up my alley!!!
This is the first Fiona Skye book that I have read and I was not disappointed. I just could not stop reading, the only thing about starting a new series that I really hate is that I now have to wait for the next installment to be written. I loved all the characters as well as Fiona's writing style.
I wonder what is going to happen next, Fiona it seems that you are now one of my favourite writers and that after just reading one book. Please hurry in writing the next one, I can't wait!!!!
If you are into some fantasy and reading about the Supernatural then why are you waiting, start reading you won't be disappointed.
Thank you to TBC for the chance to discover Fiona Skye.
Abandoned at birth on the steps of a Catholic orphanage, Jerrilyn Seton spent most of her childhood learning about the saints and angels, serving Jesus, and suffering the sisters' tough discipline, until they, too, abandoned her. Despite this, she still relies on her faith to help her with her work as a ghost hunter. But not once has she ever received an answer to her prayers.
Now Jerrilyn hears whispers in the dark, a strange voice that hints at hidden knowledge about her origins and the fate of the world. How are they connected? What will she sacrifice to become one of Those Who Are Awake?
This is the first book I have read by Fiona Skye.
I found the cover quite creepy and had no idea of what to expect from this book. Jerrilyn is a ghostbuster. But nothing like the film!
I thought this was a good start to a new series, and will be looking out for the next book in the series. 4*
Author Fiona Skye has the ability to lure her readers into thinking they are on familiar ground and then pull the rug out. Child of Clay is just the kind of story that will send shivers up your spine. Not the kind of story you want to read when you are all by yourself!
