Get all the books for a greater understanding of humanity

Wilhelm Reich was a genius... I dont' agree with everything that he wrote but I believe he was the last of the great researchers of psychology.. his theories were to understand what is creating dysfunction in adults and I believe he found substance in his thesis. Not only that he was a inventor that created many great inventions. Some the government destroyed and others he had stolen. But they worked. He eventually was put in prison for something that he was innocent of and that was where he died. He was a true pioneer and the last of his kind unfortunately. Other books I suggest are the series by Immanuel Velikovsky, and combine that with Zachariah Stitchen's works on the annanaki... it all goes together in a very interesting way.

Reich's Exposes how natural sensitive parenting work from birthing on

I read this 20 years ago & its still true about how we impact children from birthing into lifelong learning, emotions, health & relationships. His Infant health care center for child caring parents helped them with babies & children having emotional, bonding & health problems in 1950s faded away. Then in 1970s the young nature loving hippies began having natural homebirthing & doing ways that Reich was showing & teaching parents in decades before. How to respect their babies needs, emotions & instincts as natural & essential care they missed from growing up under medical care, hi tech & work compulsory economy.

Reich was a private MD pioneer in '50s U.S when Dr Spock was advocating a more child-friendly, helpful & compassionate, semi natural way of parenting. Reich did natural healing bodywork/massage on frustrated, angry, scared & hyper needy babies who had birth trauma, neglect & instincts for bonding were neglected by parents unaware of the needs. Also doing his Orgone therapy on parents who needed healing. But he was attacked, arrested & convicted of doing 'cancer curing' treatments with 'Orgone energy' the medical establishments denied exists in nature & health.

So Reich began wholistic healthy parenting & body work for releasing 'body armor' of anger, fears & pains in babies & adults in '40s & '50s. [Infant Massage--Revised Edition: A Handbook for Loving Parents]. [Children's liberation, (A Spectrum book [Ina May's Guide to Childbirth].

Now 1000 of energy therapists are doing that on adults & less on children who need healing from birth trauma, neglect, abuse & parents non bonding with love from birth on. That was the beginning of reversing the unnatural parenting in cities by stressed-out hi-tech parents & medical hospital deliveries & mechanical health care with drugs while blaming their pains, ills & diseases on germs, DNA genes, weather & work. We need more sensitive birthing & bonding, parenting & learning to prevent the normal stresses in US & most cities where competition prevents natural loving, cooperating & family peace at home.

A good read

I read this in a Greek translation recently. It is glorious. I know, the “orgon theory” has been discredited and his books pulped by the Food and Drug Administration. However, all scientific theories are ultimately proved wrong. It has been said that “psychoanalysis does not fulfill the criterial of a scientific theory, as it is not falsifiable in the Popperian sense.” However, the predictive and explanatory power of analysis is still formidable. I enjoyed reading it, it gave me new insights on my parenting-and my mistakes- 34 years ago!

its sad that a book like this has only 3 reviews.. in my opinion ne of the most important books and the education of children, it gives insights in how to really educate children: by allowing and respecting the self-regulated individual to emerge and support its development through the entire childhood. In my opinion this book gives the essence of reichian work that applies to education. Its a shame that a book like this is almost unkown to todays educators

Read it and weep

I was one of the children studied in Reich's Orgone Infant Research Institute and wrote a novel, "The All Souls' Waiting Room," about growing up in his shadow. My mother was a zealous Reichian supporter but I wasn't given a choice about whether or not I wanted to be raised according to his theories. While in the overview I agree with much of his work, to be a Reichian guinea pig wasn't a fun experience; it's taken me most of my life to come to terms with the treatment I got, all in the name of genital freedom and self-regulation.

While Reich was a true social and sexual revolutionary, brilliant firebrands sometimes forget that the rest of us are mere mortals and need love more than any ground-breaking theories. The book, however, is a must read for anyone interested in Reich's work -- and a way through some of the mind and body-deadening morass of our current crises.

A great alternative to contemporary hysteria

Reich believed that nothing require our dedication more than an understanding of the impact of the environment on the infant child. In Children of the Future, he shows how disastrous the exclusion of genitality is to the young and how important its influence is on their development. Included here is "The Sexual Rights of Youth" published in a revised form.
