This large-format collection includes more than 850 illustrations culled from British and American magazines c. 1850-1930. Silhouettes, engravings, and pen-and-ink drawings portray youngsters of all ages alone, with their toys, their pets, their friends, and their families, mostly doing what kids do best--having fun. In fact, though these illustrations come from much simpler times, you can see, in looking through them, that children haven't really changed that much in the last 80 years or so. From portraits to vignettes and action pictures, these spot illo's should inspire craft projects and original stories galore.

7月16日に注文して、8月6日に到着しました。
中は全てモノクロで、それぞれのカットは貴重な物が多く点数も豊富です。
中には影（シルエット）だけのカットもありますので、この辺りは好みが分かれるかもしれません。

とにかく本誌が汚れていました。
表紙も細かな傷だらけで、裏表紙はさらにとれないインクのような汚れがたくさん(涙)中も折れ曲がったような跡があり、楽しみにしていただけにかなり残念に思います。
中古品なのかな…凹
もし新品であるなら発送時にきちんと検品していただき、汚れや折れの酷い物は中古として出品して頂きたいです。

服飾には詳しくありません。表紙を見て、子供たちのその時代の服装が気になって買いました。

１９世紀半ばから１９２０年までの、アメリカとイギリスの雑誌に掲載されていた木版画イラストカット集のようです。（英語が不得意で冒頭の説明文はあまり読んでいません…）
全部で８６３カット収録してありますが、数十点はシルエットの形での掲載もあります。
子供たちの服装は、一般家庭（庶民？）のもののようですので豪華なドレスやビラビラ、フリルがたくさん…というような服装のカットはありません。
この時代の子供たちはこんな格好をして遊んだりすごしていたんだなぁ、という風です。
カットの内容はだいたい商品説明の通りです。
イラストのタッチは全体的に表紙に載っているカットと同じですので、細部を知りたい方には向かないかもしれません。
この本を元にして、服装のデザインをアレンジしたり、イメージを膨らませたりするきっかけにできるとは思います。

シルエットでしか掲載されていないカットがあったことが残念でしたので星を一つ減らしました。
大きさとページ数的には妥当かな、と思いました。（あくまで主観ですが）
