I am not one to give more away when I write a review, if I write a review. Why? Because I am not the author and refuse to take her vision, her world and beauty that she created and place my spin on it. What I will say is this now that my rant is out(see above), If you finished "A Bloody Kingdom" and thought OH MY GODDDD I need more. Then don't pick up this book until you have a full day to devote.... yes people DEVOTE. Devotion like no one is breathing in the house/room as you read. Example- I took off work, called in sick to read this book.
This book will have you tense, smiling and wrecking your brain trying to figure out what Ethan is doing. And boy you will be wrong with ALL your assumptions at the end. Just like all the books before this one, J.J. McAvoy developes the characters flawlessly.
All I ask is that if you read my review first..STOP and just click the sample button and then the buy now button. Don't read what others are taking from the book, from the words and the world of the Callahan's. Take the ride yourself because we all see the world through different rose colored glasses. And for those with tainted red colored stained glasses, be ready to become part of the Callahan's because your world is about to be rocked and left broken until McAvoy decides to have mercy and take your pain away.
We are not victims but victimizers. I will wait patiently for more victims (but please don't may we wait long)
'Children of Vice' is the story of Ethan the oldest child of the Callahans, his coming of age, becoming the Ceann na Conairte and the woman he chooses to be by his side.
Ivy O'Davoren is a true bad ass herself and a perfect fit for the head of the Irish and Italian families. Their story is a rocky one but the way the author tells their tale you become immersed in the story. I could not put it down and loved every minute of it.
Ms. McAvoy is a talented story teller and I have highly enjoyed reading her books, she gives the reader a rare glimpse into her characters thoughts and persona. She makes you laugh out loud and cheer them on.
I am anxious to see where she will take the story from here (the ending of this one makes you wonder what is next)
As usual there was a story
behind the story, and that is where
the truth was hidden.
Ivy was not who I expected Ethan to like but as JJ McAvoy loves to surprise us I fell in love with her. She was brave, courageous, and crazy. Ethan was the ultimate puppet master. This love story was unconventional and perfect in its won way. The Ruthless series continues in this story and I am so glad. We got to see glimpses of Uncle Declan and the clan and I was in love. I wish we got to see more of them.
Donatella... I reserve my judgment for her for the next book. But was of right now I would love to give her AND Wyatt one Tight Slap. Wyatt my favorite sibling left the coop. And damn if Ethan wasn't a genius bringing him back.
JJ McAvoy waved a tale that I would recommend to anyone. I sincerely hope this series continues on for many generations. I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Callahan clan.

Love this family and their intensity. Panting with bated breath for the next book.
