I picked up this book because it said "the you-can-do-it guide". It has taken me many weeks to get through it all, and for a shorter book of 144 pages it shouldn't have taken so long, but what I have been able to pick up and learn in the process is truly invaluable.
It doesn't talk about the "doing" as much as it talks about the "do'er", the as I walked out this journey through this book it has grown me as if I was being mentored by the author, and as a result I am no longer a clueless leader.
I'm finding it hard to put into words just how much this book has helped me in my personal leadership skills, as well as, my personal development as a lover of Jesus.
My favorite chapter was on problem solving. This chapter helped me to realize when situations arise I should view them as challenges not problems. I learned that these challenges (problems) are there to help me be more responsible; so that God could rely on me more, and in turn I will receive greater responsibility (he gives the example of David and Goliath). He goes on to explain how these challenges can help you focus on the learning opportunities not the situations itself.
I enjoyed the end of chapter assignments, guides, checklists and reminders. In the book it has a prayer that I thought was useful. It helped me to stay focused on what the task that was set out for me from God. The prayer also helped me to see what it takes it do the work of Christ.
The book is light weight and affordable. In the dedication it gave me an insight of who the author was as a family man, a member of the community and a man doing Gods work. This book was not only inspiration it was motivational. It helped me to think like a leader, and it gave me the steps in which to act like a leader for Christ. I recommend this book to anyone who doesn't know or someone who needs a reminder of what it takes to move forward in the plans that God has for the ministry.
