I love love love love love this book! As a speech therapist, I’ve always known that reading nursery rhymes to your children has been proven to significantly boost their language skills & even increase their verbal SAT score! But most nursery rhyme books I had were either too short or just had lame illustrations. I found this in a used bookshop one day & never looked back. Our copy has been used so much it’s falling apart. I’ve read this book to both my kids during most lunchtimes since they were around 9 months on, and they are both significantly above average in terms of language skills. Of course, it probably doesn’t hurt that I’m a speech therapist, but I think these have REALLY helped! I buy this book for every baby shower & first birthday that I attend. It. Is. The. BEST!
Free speech therapist tip: if you read these during mealtimes it’s much easier to shovel food in (or “first bite then read!” for the BLW babies), and it makes meals so much more fun & educational! If you want to check off the “did I do anything for my baby’s development today?” box then just reading this book definitely counts!
