Product Description

Size: Full

ChiliPad PLS Cooling and Heating Mattress Pad - Fits FULL size mattresses. Your best night's sleep is a few degrees away! ChiliPad is a mattress pad with a cooling and heating temperature control system. It regulates the surface temperature of your mattress so that you sleep comfortably all night long. Designed to fit all standard and extra thick mattresses, this unique 150 thread count, poly cotton mattress pad uses soft medical grade silicone tubing to circulate regular water through the pad. A built in connection tube (48" in length) connects the pad to the control unit. Dual-zone ChiliPads have separate tubing and independent control units for each side. Control the temperature at the touch of a button either directly on the control unit or conveniently in bed with the wireless remote control. Set the temperature in 1 degree increments from 60 degrees to 118 degrees F. The control unit heats or cools regular water to your set temperature and circulates it through the pad, generally achieving temperatures between 60 degrees to 110 degrees F on the bed surface. A thermostat maintains the set temperature, letting you sleep at your ideal temperature throughout the night. End battles over the thermostat and save money on your energy bill by cooling or heating your bed instead of your entire house! The control unit averages less than 80W of energy use, and dual-zone ChiliPads let you set each side of the bed independently. Fall asleep faster and achieve deeper, restorative sleep longer by controlling your sleep temperature!

I have owned and used a ChiliPad for 3.5 years. I believe I had one of the first models (CP-100s) and for the most part, I have been satisfied with the product. I purchased a foam mattress from Amazon about 8 years ago and I love my mattress. However, it retains a massive amount of heat. I am also a "hot sleeper." The King Size unit was several hundred dollars cheaper back in the day so even the cost of the mattress and the chilipad was cheaper than even a decent mattress at the local mattress store. Here are some of the things I have expereinced over the last 3.5 years.

The CP-100 would get cold. In fact, it would suck every bit of heat out of your body if you set the temperature low enough. I sleep with a heavy blanket and it would still suck all the heat out of my body.

The mattress pad is little uncomfortable. It took a while to get used to the tubes. When the water is running through them they are little hard.
The fans on the units are loud. I am a computer guy and I don't understand why Chili didn't pay the extra dollar or two for super quiet ball bearing computer fans. The fans are way to loud.
The lights. On the older units, the lights on the units were very bright. I used duct tape to cover them.
Lack of support. You are basically on your own. They will replace units if they are under warranty, but you are without a unit for several weeks. Having an advanced replacement option or something like that would be nice.
Lack of parts availability after warranty. On both of my units, the water pumps are bad. I just need new ones and my units would be back in business. Chili says they don't sell these parts and won't give me the name of their supplier.

Add me to the other men here who have watched their wives get the upper hand on hot flashes, night sweats and the accompanying insomnia from perimenopausal symptoms with this product. I bought it based on these reviews so was compelled to add some information to help other couples who may be in a similar situation make a choice on the purchase. Thank goodness for reviews, I would have been reluctant to drop $450 without them.

Let me start by clarifying a point I was wondering before my purchase - unless both partners need the product and you sleep in a large bed (we have a King), go ahead and purchase the twin. This product is flat - it does not have fitted corners so it is easy to put on top of your existing mattress pad and won't bother the other sleeper. We bought an additional waterproof pad to put on the mattress based on other reviews. So yes...we have the waterproof pad over the mattress, our quilted mattress pad on top of that and the ChiliPad on top of that, followed by the fitted sheet.

You will save a lot of money buying the twin ($449) versus the king ($999). I figured if we experience a leak down the line as some other reviewers mentioned, it will be much easier to swallow the expense of the replacement pad (I understand about 25-30% of the unit cost) than it would be had I bought a king sized system.

It is easy to set up and not terribly loud. You do hear it at first but you get used to it and then it is just background noise that doesn't bother you. We already sleep with my cPap unit running. Suffice it to say we are not bothered by anything else, save for a thunderbolt, do to the background noise we both produce!

This unit helped my wife immediately, similar to other reviewers statements.

1st off I am not an employee or have no affiliation for Chili Technologies. I am a consumer and user of the Chilipad for the last 4 years.
I think most of the persons reviewing the chilipad thought they were purchasing an air conditioning unit for their bed. Their is no refrigerant in the Chilipad like your A/C unit to cool the water. My experience is that the Chilipad is more like a heat exchanger, it becomes more effective the cooler the ambient air is. When your body temp is 98 degrees and the room is 85 degrees the unit is not that effective. However, if your room is 75 degrees the Chilipad is more effective.
I sleep on a sleep by numbers bed and found myself waking up hot and turning the thermostat down to 68 degrees to compensate. Now with the Chilipad I only turn it down to 71 and am able to sleep through the night without getting hot.
The product works and I sleep better with it, but I think Chilipad lacks in telling the consumer exactly what they are buying or how it exactly works.

UPDATE: 10/13/14- This being my 2nd Chilipad, I wanted to add a few things after now having the new version for 3 months. I had my 1st Chilipad right at 4 years and made the mistake of putting tap water in it because I had run out of the distilled water. That is why I probably had to buy a new one. The tap water had bacteria in it and created growth and made the pad ineffective even with adding hydrogen peroxide to it. Make sure you only put Distilled water in your cube.

Here are a few pros and cons of the new version of the cube and pad.

Automatic shutoff after 10 hours of use.

Lacks a single mode Heat or Cool selection. Would like to see that you can either just select Heat or Cool.
