Jo Empson graduated from Cambridge School of Art with a Masters in Children's Book Illustration. Her background as a graphic designer has had a great influence on her picture books. Jo is never happier than when she is swept away in storytelling, whether writing, illustrating or just reading a favourite picture book (which she still does every night!).

She is the author-illustrator of Rabbityness, which was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2013 and 8 other awards including shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize. Her second picture book Never Ever, was also honored with a nomination for the Kate Greenaway Medal. Both books were nominated for Biennale of Illustration, Bratislava, 2015.

Chimpanzees for Tea! is a wild and wacky story of a delightfully breezy story with illustrations and layout to match. A young boy is given a shopping list and told run out and hurry back in time for tea. But when the list is blown away with a breeze, he becomes gradually more confused and ends up bringing a wild — and rhyming — group of animals and performers home instead, just in time for tea. My young children love to hear the fun and funny story, and enjoy reading the breezy story as the text is blown about the pages. It’s a charming book we all enjoy.
