Hotness factor: Too much drama!
Mystery, family drama, forbidden love… The China Doll has it all! The third instalment of The New Pioneers series starts off exactly two years after The Family You Choose ends. It’s Helen Louise Graham’s second birthday! Emily and Mitch are parents… God help us all! I’m not judging, but I don’t think they’re coping very well.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. This time, the story revolves mostly around Jessie Bartolome the once youngest member of this family until Helen’s arrival. She’s old enough to vote now and goes to university. After all that happened to her in the last book, you would think that the author, Deborah Nam-Krane, would give her a free pass, but that’s not how genius work. Jessy is in for the ride of the life because whether we like it or not, she’s in the centre of it all. How about that for mystery! (No spoiler)
Of course, there is drama, enormous, jaws dropping, eyebrow raising, Oh no, he didn’t! saying drama. Mitch is being is usual self, and I love him for it! Classic Mitch… Emily is always in other people’s businesses, classic Emily… Miranda is still dealing with her very unhealthy love triangle, classic Miranda… Then you have Zainab and Richard to soften or harden the blows… or not, classic, classic and classic.
It’s great to have the whole cast back and finally getting to the heart of their issues, while creating or rekindling new old ones… classic Pioneers! I love this series and I have been recommending it to everyone. I will keep doing it so until the words best sellers are attached to it!
I RECEIVED AN ARC IN EXCHANGE OF THE HONEST REVIEW
Once again, I'm completely blown away by this series! Deborah's characters just pull you in and never let go, and this book is definitely the best one so far. In the first two, you get a lot of background, flashbacks, and various points of view. This third installment ties up a lot of loose ends and lets loose with a fury once it gets going. There's also quite a few twists and turns, and one specific scene that literally left my jaw hanging barely above the ground. I will definitely be on pins and needles waiting for the next one!
5 stars (but I'd gladly triple that if they'd let me) =)
A couple of years have passed since the second book in the series, THE FAMILY YOU CHOOSE, and a few things have changed. I’ll not spoil it for anyone, because you must read the book to get the full effect. All I can say is that some deep, old, dark family secrets are revealed, and you’ll be blown away.
As usual with Deborah Nam-Krane’s books, I laughed, I cried, I never wanted it to end. If you enjoy family sagas with heartbreaking twist like the TV series DALLAS and REVENGE, you’ll love all of the books of THE NEW PIONEERS series.
The China Doll, the continuation of the Pioneer series is amazing!
I loved it!!
From the start up to the last, the happenings in thisbook is awesome!
It's not predictable and it totally held my interest.
Many surprises happened that really made me say WOW!
Among the Pioneer series, this book is my favorite!
With all the emotion that are easily felt and the unexpected things
that happened on the characters that I love.
Ms. Deborah did a really great job on making this book
FANTASTIC and interesting with a wow-factor.
This time taking the lead roles are Jessie and Richard. We've met them, and loved them, in the two previous novels. But this time its about the unanswered mysteries that surround the deaths of Jessie's parents, and those secrets that silence the only adult (Richard's Mother) who can save these tortured youngsters from dealing with much more than they should have to at such tender ages.
You're in for a roller-coaster ride of intrigue mystery and heartbreak. It's a definite must read and one of the kindle books I'll be purchasing as a paperback too.
