Well, this product, when you first see it, it's such a pretty good deal for people traveling to CHINA. But only valid for non-Chinese residents!!! I read some reviews saying it's hard to activate the sim card due to understanding no Chinese language. But for Chinese, it's worst, not possible to register it.

If you are Chinese, don't ever buy it. Because you will not be able to register it at all. Even though after reading all manuals from Lvycom website, nowhere says only non-Chinese residents can register it, but the customer service will tell you that's true and say sorry. They have changed the policy without informing anybody at anywhere. A good thing is you can contact the seller by email and got a refund quite easily.

Had some issues initially - Samsung S7 Edge SM-G935U

I have an unlocked Samsung S7 Edge SM-G935U on Android 7.0 and had issues with this SIM card.

When I put it into the device, the device connects fine to the local network. However, a message pops up saying "Service provider update - Your device will restart to configure features supported by the new SIM card". When I click OK, the message turns into "Please wait" but is stuck there. During this time, the device is unusable. I tried restarting the phone but the same message pops up and gets stuck at please wait.

Potential solution:
After being without data for 5 days, I believe I have stumbled upon a solution. Instead of turning off the device, switching SIMs, and turning it back on, I simply switched SIMs while the device was on. Upon switching Sims, my phone restarted on its on and booted on recovery mode. After that, the phone powered on normally and the Service provider update message no longer popped up.

In US, I'm with T-mobile. My phone is an unlocked S7 Edge from Best Buy - not sure if it makes a difference.

This is my new favorite product on Amazon! My 12 year old daughter and I just returned from a 2 week trip to China where we used our smart phones in 3 different cities. We have lived in China in the past, and this SIM card comes already set up the way good friends have helped us set up accounts in the past - but without causing 麻烦 for other people. Incoming calls and texts are free, and there are no within-country roaming charges. We have some senior friends who aren't on WeChat, so I had to replenish my call/texting money, but if that wouldn't have been necessary otherwise. Put the SIM in your phone before you leave the US to make sure it works, then take it out again until you are on your flight. You'll be able to contact friends and colleagues as soon as you hit the ground in China.

We used a Moto G3 and a Moto G4 Plus with a VPN and were able to use Google and Facebook (not as well as in the US, but very usable). A word of advice - Get a WeChat account if you don't already have one since this is how most people communicate.

Data did not work with Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7

I could not use this card with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 in China. This may not be the fault of the card itself, but a fault with Verizon's internal software for the S7. However, I wish that there would have been some instruction on how to change the settings on my phone prior to departure to China. Verizon was not helpful at all regarding this, as I called them specifically to ask them about this because I had a similar problem with a local sim card that I bought in China on a previous trip. Voice and Text worked perfectly right after I inserted the card into my phone and restarted it. However, data was an issue, and it did not work the entire time I was there. Upon researching the issue when I returned from China (can't use google in china), it appears that you need to change your APN settings (still not sure exactly to what) in order to get the data working on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7.

Luckily I had brought an extra iPhone 6 (also a Verizon phone) that I had with me (just incase I had problems, which I did), and I popped the thing into that phone and it worked perfectly. I ended up having to use my iPhone and connect to it with my Galaxy S7 in order for the phone to function (all my relevant apps, e-mails, etc were on my S7). I know that this is not the fault of the card itself, but the fault of the phone and the carrier. However, it would have been nice if there were some instructions provided for Verizon android phones in general, as there are a lot of us out there. Giving it 3 stars because it worked with my iPhone, but couldn't get the thing to work with my S7. Would have been 5 stars if I was an iPhone user.

I was leery of this card because of a bad experience I had in Germany last year with a different sim company, but I can tell you this worked flawlessly and as advertised. I did activate it upon receiving it and when I turned the phone on in China...it just worked. Connected within a few minutes and I had plenty of data for my 2 week trip. Seriously if you're going to China get this card. My colleague bought a local sim and had only 100MB of data. It only takes a few WeChat photo transmissions to blow through that. Thanks, guys! I would definitely get this again.

Can't connect to 4G for data and text

I've been in Shanghai for 72 hrs and haven't been able to connect to 4G. When card was first installed, language on my Samsung S5 was Chinese. Lvycom said just change language on phone to English. I can't read Chinese do that was impossible! I finally found an English-speaking Chinese person to read the Chinese language on my phone and select English. We were now able to turn on mobile network. I can make calls, but no texts, and no internet. I purchased the SIM card so that I could use maps and translator apps, but so far that is not possible. Perhaps there is something within the SIM card app that I need to do, but since it is in Chinese, I have no idea. I am very frustrated and disappointed. I've spent way too much time trying to make this work.
