Fine to find lost things but not good to track luggage
I thought I would try Chipolo since I really wanted Tile but Tile only supports Android 9 and above and my phone only has v8 which Chipolo supports. Since it's Android that means I had to get the Chipolo One and not the Chipolo One Spot which works with Apple products and the Apple network which is much larger than the Chipolo network. While Chipolo may be great for finding lost objects, I only needed it try and track my luggage given all the airline problems these days. I ran an experiment with it in my luggage for a trip I just took. I went from a mid-size city with a busy airport through a connection in a large city to another large city. I thought given I was traveling through areas with more people that when I set it to "Lost" that there would be enough people for it to turn up on just the Chipolo network. But it did not. The only time it turned up as "Found" was when I was leaving my home airport on my return and I passed a car which triggered it. From the photos you can see what I used to open it up and test the battery. The battery was new and full so no worries there! It's easy to find the notch and open it especially if you are used to changing watch batteries. Before and after I bought the Chipolo One I went on their site to find information about how it tracks things on their network. After combing through it and seeing that the information appears to be vague and it mainly only talks about the One Spot. I only found one mention buried somewhere that says the One uses the Chipolo network. So if you want to track luggage you're better off with the Spot if you have Apple. Also note that Delta does a great job tracking your bags in their app whereas Southwest does not track at all.
