Vibram Tacoma Logger Outsole
Every lug incorporated in this design has been strategically placed for braking, kick off, traction, stability, slip resistance, oil resisting, and good abrasion. The exclusion compound is designed for maximum traction on a variety of terrains including wet surfaces. This outsole maintains physical properties in cold weather, too.
3M Thinsulate Ultra Insulation
Thinsulate Ultra insulation is loftier and thicker than original Thinsulate insulation for even greater warmth and comfort, yet still thin enough to allow complete freedom of movement. These Chippewa Loggers contain 400 grams of 3M Thinsulate Ultra Insulation.
Dri-Lex delivers heightened comfort through a moisture management lining system that is totally breathable and quick drying.
The Chip-A-Tex waterproof membrane system is breathable. Water is locked out of the boot by the membrane shield but air passes through from the foot for maximum comfort.

Walking through creeks and clay my feet are nice and dry. I rinse them off with a hose when I'm done working for the day and let them dry out and they look good as new. The laces are waxed and stay nice and snug, with no need for double knots.
They did not come with American flags. I contacted Chippewa, not Amazon about this and Chippewa sent them right out to me free of charge. They also confirmed through pictures that they are authentic Super Loggers, I wanted to be sure spending this much on them.
Overall I am very happy with the comfort and safety these are providing. The real test will be time and how these handle work.
Update: First pair exchanged with another pair. The speed hooks were bending and pulling out of the leather, along with part of the sole coming apart. The second pair after two days of use and the sole is coming apart as well! I am in contact with Chippewa about this issue and we will see what they have to say. Have to lower the review until this is resolved. I'm not beating these boots up either, I am wearing them doing light work for the break in. I love how the boot feels and wears, but I shouldn't have to be looking at repairs 2 days after putting them on.
The Bad!! they are stiff at first and the heels are really much taller than you think, more like cowboy boots than work boots so you are gonna have to get used to wearing them.
The UGLY!!! these boots run small and narrow, most boots run a tad large ( Redwings) but I had to get these a half size large and an E width when ALL my other shoes and boots are 11D. I would think at this price point they would be very accurate in sizing because for just a little bit more I could and probably will get a pair of Whites boots. Thankfully there is an outlet store in my city ( Fort Worth ) and I tried on other boots to determine size. Justin Boots owns this brand and I expect better from them but even their own brand of packer boots run small and narrow.
EDIT: took a month but they are broken in and are the most comfortable boots EVER, feet feel better with them on rather than off...REALLY
Boots are still great and comfortable but the laces are starting to fray. Called Chippewa they are sending replacements, hopefully they last longer than 3 months.
Boots are still wearing and feeling amazing but the laces are shot again. I guess I'll have to keep waxed laces in stock because these boots are so worth it.
I went with the non-insulated and non-steel toe version. My feet are rarely cold so the insulation was not needed for an every-day boot.
The first day I wore them I was afraid they did not fit properly because as I walked my heel lifted up out of the heel pocket of the boot. It was driving me nuts. I called a local boot store and they told me to grab the heel of the boot in one hand and bend the toe of the boot towards the laces and keep working the boot to loosen up the leather. As the boots have broken in the rest of the day they fit perfectly and my foot does not move at all.
The Vibram sole is the most rugged pattern I have ever seen. The lugs provide great traction on all surfaces. I am looking forward to how they handle in the snow. I have high expectations.
The price is up here but worth every penny in my opinion.
I was a faithful Red Wing wearer for years but I started having trouble with the toes blowing out and the eyelets detatching and I couldn't get any support from Red Wing so I switched brands.
If you work for a living, pay the money to get these boots. They truly are waterproof, I've never had the leather blow out over the steel toe, the soles last better than any car tire you can buy and they're comfortable. When they're worn out you can pay 80 dollars and they'll rebuild your boots at which time you'll have a like new pair of boots that are already broken in for your feet.
Yeah, you can go to walmart and buy a 50 dollar pair of boots that were made in china, but you'll have soggy wet feet, sore heels and knees and you'll have to replace them every 6 months. Do the math, buy American made, buy Chippewas. You won't regret it.
