I am all for a holistic approach to health, including both conventional and alternative approaches. But PLEASE!!!!!!!educate yourself as to who you are dealing with. For example, chiropractors call themselves doctor and physician even though their education nowhere comes close to equaling others who can legitimately claim a doctoral level education. Chiropractors also call themselves acupuncturists after taking a few weekend seminars, while true acupuncturists complete a more lengthy educational program than chiropractor school, then they take a (legitimate) board certification exam. Chiropractors are (unethically, incompetently) practicing medicine in many states because state legislators too ignorant and corrupt to do anything about it. If you know your butt from your elbow as far as health science, you can tell, after listening to to or reading chiropractor language, that they are dangerous quacks!!!!
Chiropractic education is meager, and apparently focused on marketing, legislative aggression and bashing of other groups. I have always thought that if anyone had anything respectable and worthwhile to offer me, their presentation should focus on an honest representation of the positives they had to offer, not on exaggerated claims regarding themselves as well as slandering others. Chiropractors blatantly fail this test.
Chiropractic is based on pure myth, i.e. the myth of the "chiropractic subluxation" which has never been shown to exist. Any anatomy book can show this. It is rather remarkable that chiropractic can still be around after so much evidence has been gathered against their claims. Chiropractic did not earn licensing back in the 1950s through demonstrating that it could help people, but by political means.
The late George Magner has written an invaluable resource for anyone considering whether or not to try chiropractic. You will learn that this trade (not "profession," as health care professions have standards of care) carries serious physical and financial risks for its customers.
