If you are looking to improve your life at all, this is an excellent resource. It defines in layman's terms what dysfunction is, and it gives you a new way of looking at experiences that you have had. If you have been abused and you want a new way of looking at your experiences, this book gives you a fresh perspective. It will change your entire life if you let it. It will help you understand the abuser and yourself! Not only will it help you understand circumstances you've been through, it gives you a path to follow to get beyond the hurt that is so deep in your heart.
Although written by three doctors, it is written in easily understandable terms. I have recommended this book to NUMEROUS people and every one of them was very impressed. Many have decided to face the hurts in their lives and have come out the other side.
Without the information and application of the information in the book one has no better than 50/50 chance of finding oneself in the same quagmire life with the absolute wrong person. Apply the information given in the book and one stands an excellent chance of breaking the revolving door wrong person routines in ones life.
Rate this the # 1 book of all time for interpersonal relationship help.
I think the big take away from this book is too be able to see what behaviors and avoidance actions we do and the negative impact it has in our lives and our decision making process. Then by being aware of them as we proceed through life, as we are confronted with new decisions, situations and choices moving forward, we have the consciousness of the patterns and insights revealed in the book. Then if we are honest with ourselves, brutally honest, that insight into ourselves and motivations will allow us to make the right decisions. I love this book, and recommend it to anyone who feels they have "knots to untangle" in their soul or psyche. A truly enlightening and insightful book. It changed my life, by adding such insight. God bless.
The condition of the book was good but very warn. It was still intact and readable, at any price it is a bargain!
