Product Description

Choice of the Vampire is a text-based game where your choices control the story.

Play as a newly created vampire, struggling to survive your first nights of immortality. Begin your two-hundred-year journey as a vampire in New Orleans of 1815, and choose whether to seek love, power, or redemption as you negotiate the growing pains of the young Republic.

Throughout the game you'll choose between a set of options which decide the action your vampire will take next. Will you embroil yourself in the intrigues of elder vampires? Can an undead creature find true love? How will you balance your waning humanity against your thirst for blood?

If you love gamebooks, you'll love Choice of the Vampire. Its unique approach to interactive fiction allows larger, deeper, and richer stories than traditional gamebooks. Will you discover all of the hidden endings?

Please note: Choice of the Vampire contains content that may be inappropriate for children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Engaging! June 6, 2011
By Matt L

I recently purchased Choice of the Vampire and have been very pleased with the product. The "game" provides an interactive fiction, where the choices you make guide the tale of a particular vampire's "un-life". It was easy to connect with my character, the vivid style of writing pulled me into the scenes, and I really appreciated the way that past decisions have ramifications later on in your character's saga.

The current volume leaves off on a bit of a cliff-hanger and desperately needs a sequel, but there is significant re-playability in the current volume and I found it to be a high-quality product that was well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!!!! June 16, 2011
I have enjoyed all of the 'choice of' games, and this is an excellent one. Full of twists, complex characters, and the general aura of mysery and danger that surrounds vampires. I would not reccomend this game for anyone under the age of 12 though. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for someone looking for a "game" June 2, 2011
Verified Purchase
I purchased this because I love the vampire genre. This is a fun book/game to read. I want to stress that this is more like a book than a game. As you read through the page, you are given options as to how your "character" will continue. I love being able to make the story go in the direction I want, I hate reading a book and thinking, "they shouldn't have done that!". In this case, you are almost an author of your own story, and no two stories will be the same.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh. July 21, 2011

This game was pretty good, with many options, but it does indeed need a sequel. An alternative way to play this is at the choice of games website. I do not know if this version is more complete or not, as the website is down at the time of writing. It is one of the most in-depth games yet, so it is pretty cool, with every single answer influencing the story. NEEDS A SEQUEL! Thats it though.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was good but not their best July 6, 2011
Verified Purchase
Choice of the Vampire was a very large story to follow. I have read it through a few times and I can never seem to do everything I want to do--I cannot be strong enough to fight and smart and good at art and music all in the same story. I did like the way it disabled some of the choices but still let you see what else you could have chosen. I will be reading this book again several more times, but I will probably not read it as much as some of their other books.

TL;DR: It shows of a broad story and some new features in game books. It is worth buying, especially if you've already read through their past books.

If this is your first game book I would personally recommend buyimg Choice of Broadsides.

3.0 out of 5 stars My CHOICE is disappointment! February 1, 2012
Verified Purchase
I just discovered this book/game recently and I am checking them all out. I want to stress that this is more like a book/HISTORY lesson than a book/game. It was a very quick read. I really expected more from this book/game & expected it to at least be fun. It was more like trying to stay awake in history class than reading a book. Your choices are very limited, it ends quite abruptly, and for the possible love interests, nothing you do seems to change what happens. Had great potential, but was overall very disappointed. As you read through the page, you are given options as to how your "character" will continue. I love being able to make the story go in the direction I want...but it's limited. I was excited when I first purchased this book/game, but was very soon disappointed with the work. You don't get to choose some of the options that are listed on some of the pages. I believe that is because of other choices I made in the beginning. But come on everybody changes their minds, right! For a vampire you're not much good in a fight. Choice of the Vampire is more like a third rate history lesson, than a book/game. If you want an entertaining story-game about being a vampire this book/game is NOT it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun InteractiveGame August 18, 2013
Verified Purchase
This was the first interactive book I have tried. I have been through it a couple times. I enjoyed it and I really liked the character I portrayed. I wish they had continued the story. It does leave you hanging. From some of the dates of the previous reviews, it doesn't seem that Choice of Games is in any rush to continue the story. That is a large drawback. I would consider this factor before purchasing this item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable game! September 23, 2012

You can play as either male or female and play different roles in your life
as a vampire. However I want a sequel to this. How would your vampire live
in the end of the 19th century or 20th century? The two World Wars? Into
the 21st? Are they coming out with another? At least you have enjoyable
role play until it ends so far. Get this game!
