The well-known ChokeFree Brand of pet restraints is now proud to offer Vel*Pro, a new mesh one-piece non-choking pet shoulder collar that utilizes a Vel-Lock Closure. Pet Retailers can now order Vel*Pro Mesh in Red, Black, Blue and Pink in five sizes that fit pets who measure from 11" to 20" around the chest just behind the front legs as listed below. Size is determined by measuring the pet's chest just behind the front legs and going up an inch to allow for comfort. If the pet can tuck its head and back out, the Vel*Pro is too large and a smaller size should be selected.

I love a few things about this harness, one is that it actually fits my hard to fit dog. He is 12" long, has a 12" neck, a 17" girth, and weighs 11 lbs, finding a harness that actually fits him is hard.
It does not choke him no matter how hard he pulls, and nearly every other harness labeled choke free that I could find that would fit him would choke him. My boy has a very sensitive trachea so finding such a harness was very important to me.
It has never chaffed him. I've had some harnesses rub him raw on his lower chest or under his front legs. since his undercarriage is practically naked.
It's well constructed and even after constant use it has held up well, I've noticed very little wear on it.
My boy does not mind wearing it but if you asked him he'd still say it's his God given right to run loose without any harness at all. I had bought a similar style, different brand, harness that he quickly came to hate and would actively avoid having it put on, this one he does not mind.
There are, however, a couple of things that are not so good about the harness.
It is very easy for a dog to back out of it, and my boy if he decides to roll on the ground can wiggle out of it. It hasn't been a large issue for me, I just have to be careful not to pull forward on the harness, but if a person has a harness escape artist dog it will be a large issue.
Tags cannot be fastened to the D ring since the D ring passes through an slop on the top of the opposite side of the harness. You'll have to either use a collar to hold tags or get a clip to put the tags on and take it on and off as you use the harness.
The harness does stretch out a little, but not so much that it affects the use of the harness.
Well, after a year of use and nearly that long of random pains in his hind end, and a second opinion with the vet, my dog was finally diagnosed with a pinched nerve and it seems the harness was the culprit. I've stopped using the culprit and he's been pain free since It seems the thick edge of the harness pressed into his back and spine every time he pulled on the harness, so if your dog is a puller you might want to reconsider using this harness, if your dog does not pull much it's a great harness.
Update: Bought another small and it fit. Not sure what was the issue with the first one but I love the product.
She has an 8'' neck, 12'' chest. I got the smallest one especially as many many other reviewers mention that the item stretches quite a bit over time.
It totally rode up on her neck. She might have an odd rib cage and this item might work better for others but for me it did not work at all. So sad as I need a harness made from material that will not get ruined by water as we live in the PNW and it rains a lot. I have a great Buddy Belt leather harness but their faux leather ones do not fit because they don't carry her size in that line (only full sizes, not halfs, up to size 3) and I need something better to get us comfortably through this winter! This item is not it, sadly.
At the end of the day, I would buy this harness again. As many dachshund owners know, they can be hard to fit properly for harnesses.
