Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

The diet-heart-cholesterol connection is a fiction. It has thrived in the consciousness of the American people with the nourishment of forces in the fund-raising community, academia, the government, and the food industry. The motive for maintaining this hoax? PROFIT!

So says Sheldon Zerden, who has seen the myth continue unabated with billions of dollars a year in business. He says that the whole heart-healthy industry has led sane men of science astray and compromised the lives of almost everyone. He says that if the truth were admitted, this profit machine would go down in flames and take the food and pharmaceutical industries with them.

Zerden says that scientists really know that:

The reduction of dietary cholesterol does not increase the life of an individual.
The people who have the HIGHEST levels of cholesterol live the longest.
Including two whole eggs per day has shown no significant effect on serum cholesterol levels of normal humans.
Overwhelming evidence indicates that diet has little or nothing to do with coronary heat disease.
A diet for children endorsed by the American Heart Association would do serious harm to brain and mental development.

This book was incredibly interesting. It was the first book that told the truth about cholesterol. Everyone who is worried about cholesterol should read this book. It will make you feel a lot better if you know that 80% of the people who have heart attacks have a low cholesterol level(JAMA1964).

Great reference book on yet another hoax we've been lied to about. A must read. Oh, and ingested fluoride isn't good for you either regardless of government propaganda. This is my third copy. I gave the first two away (one to a Pharm D).

Wow, what a book. I read all about the lies and this book is excellent. I am so glad to find out the truth. It shows that we are being duped by doctors and the drug industry. This book is very convincing. Kudos to the writer. He probably has a contract on him now.

I decided to add my two cents worth when I read the negative reviews of this excellent book. I actually bought several copies so I could hand them out to sadly misinformed friends. May I say the author need not be a physician to provide this accurate information, however he does list in the back of the book the names of medical doctors who support his work. Doctors like Michael DeBaky M.D. who is one of the world's leading cardiologists and a man who has been shouting "fraud" regarding cholesterol mania and the use of statin drugs for many years.

I am a research analyst specializing in medicine and economics. I personally analyzed the top ten heart studies beginning with the famous Framingham study and they all proved NO causal effect between cardiovascular disease and cholesterol. Cholesterol may be PRESENT but it is NOT CAUSAL. Statin drugs are very dangerous and we have no need to use them. High LDL; and there is more then one kind of LDL; not all of them are "bad", can also be the result of high alcohol and/or carbohydrate consumption which would require a different response as opposed to prescribing statin drugs.

The valuable information in this book is more then worth its modest price.
