Originally, the text of this book was the outline for an empowerment workshop I never ended up teaching. Over 10 years later I found that outline in a file box and realized I had the makings of a book! So this is how Choose was born. Of course I changed the original title which was Present Moment to Choose and the Actions in this book were at one time called Exercises. Yet the material is as timeless as breathing for just as incorporating the 7 chapters in the book into our lives, the more often and better we breathe, the better our quality of life!
So, where did the material REALLY originate? Good question. For decades now I have been on a quest to have a life that I could enjoy and along my journey I found that to accomplish this I would have to make some choices, sometimes choices I struggled with. Many of my choices delivered temporary satisfaction such as to be in a band; a great time but for me it became merely a chapter in my life and not the story itself. Some of the choices had very destructive potential such as the choices to consume too much alcohol. Ah yes, fun at the time but regrettable in the long run. As you have most likely imagined, NONE of those choices are in the book, for among the temporary choices I made, I also made choices I have used to create a life allowing me to experience the miracle of living fully and authentically. Because of these choices I can honestly say I feel like I AM the master of my own fate and isn't that something to which you can relate?
One of the choices the book addresses is the choice of GRATITUDE. Now this choice came about for me because of something I saw on a wildly popular talk show where the host was espousing the virtues and rewards of keeping a "gratitude journal". This seemed so "doable" that I headed right to the stationery store to purchase an engagement calendar, the type of calendar that is in book form with larger spaces for each day so you can write more than a word or two. Then I began to journal 3 things I was grateful for each and every day. What fun this was and not only did I look forward to writing out my gratitude, I found that I sought more and more ways to experience gratitude through out the day. THIS in its small, innocent way, changed my life for the BETTER and became something that is now a part of my existence. In fact I sign off each night in social media by listing 3 things I am grateful for and invite others to share their gratitude.
Of course I talked about one of the seven choices in my book but believe me they are ALL just as simple and profound. For each choice there is an ACTION to help you experience the desired result. And these ACTIONS are so easy, even children enjoy them. While the youngest person I am aware of who has read the book and enjoyed it is seven years old, her five year old sister sat right there an listened to her reading, all the while happily coloring pictures. I tell you this to illustrate the age appropriateness of the content which I believe will help in the decision to give copies of this book to people of all ages.

Annette Rochelle Aben has been a published author since she was a sophomore in high school. Over the years she has written for pleasure and profit including working as a stringer for a weekly newspaper in Monroe, MI. When she worked for United Artists Entertainment, she designed a children's activity book for the company which won a National In-House Marketing award. During this same time, Annette was nominated for a local Emmy award for writing/producing television commercials.
