So stepping back into this book after reading the continuation of this and what follows this book here — I feel like I have all the behind the scenes and answers as to why Book 1 is the way it is — ultimately both books should be amalgamated into one volume - as book 2 continues on from this volatile ending —
I’ve seen the reviews and they haven’t done this duet any favours as the dialogue is choppy and a lot of the interaction between Aiden and Beauty is in the filler and backstory — Jackson, Jagger and Journey — Jagger is the middle child so there hasn’t been much focus on him in this first book — when Camilla is hired she is The Pierce’s saving grace in so many ways, (Renee, Noah and his wife, Harley all make light appearances) I kind of understand where the author was coming from in the telling of this story but I can also see where the folks who have reviewed this book are coming from at the same time hence why I have given both books 4 stars. I was shocked to see that there is a 3rd book in the works based on Jackson and Harley’s hate for each other lol 😂
I’m not trying to spoil anything it’s just I’m trying not to provide spoilers and if I have I apologise in advance a lot of reviewers were thrown as they weren’t expecting there to be a second book according to some reviews albeit it’s a duet 🤷🏻♀️ but I am looking forward to hearing more about Jackson ♥️♥️♥️
Book 1 Choosing Us — is a book that unveils a reality one doesn’t want to face whilst in the throes of not knowing how to pick up the pieces in one’s life after such a devastating loss — Enter a Nannie who rattled the walls and shakes the foundation bringing life and bringing hope back into a place where it became askew ♥️
Book 2 Choosing You — is a continuation and well worth the read as it takes you on a journey of twists and turns whilst uncovering the truth....
Below I listed a book series some may have read where the author does something similar with her storyline/plot timeline as this author has done with this series albeit they’re two different stories and two different authors
— If you have read Pepper Winters book series titled “The Boy & His Ribbon” - “The Girl & Her Ren” there is also a 3rd book titled “A Boy & His Hope” —
In the first book, Choosing You, I at first spent a lot of time just trying to get my bearings- trying to understand and wrap my mind and heart around the story that Monica wanted to tell- because what I anticipated from the poetic blurb, the book I thought I was getting myself into was not that at all. I was immediately hit with two complex timelines- two parallel love stories, one in the past, one in the present, bumbling around in the dark just trying to connect the dots- how did we get from point A to point Z?
The key is to go into this story with an open mind and open heart- trust Monica- the pay off will be worth the ache of the journey. Once you let go of your expectations, then you can just experience this riveting journey. It is angsty, our hero is a big fat jerk, but you know it's because he’s hurting, we just don't fully understand. And, we have two women- a wife, Bailey, and a nanny, Camila- both in different timelines, absent from each other’s narratives but connected to Aiden- what is the connection?
The first book is going to feel less romantically fulfilling- that’s why this is a duet. There is not a HEA here, there is a cliffhanger, and I had more questions than answers. And, I was still struggling with Aiden, and struggling to understand just who or what I was even rooting for. That’s the point- that’s what Monica is pushing on, the web she’s weaving- the path to love is messy, and so our narrative gives us that experience. She wants us to question- to grapple, to experience it ourselves.
This is a complicated and emotional first half of a duet- so much angst, so many questions. And that ending- my goodness, rip my heart out. Thank goodness M. Robinson has put BOTH books into one so you aren’t suffering in suspense for too long!

We see the present from the point of view of the Nanny and the destruction that she can see but doesn't know the cause. She is trying to help the children of the family that seems to have fallen apart.
This book gives us nothing but questions nd I can't wait to see what happens with the family in part two.
Love the fact that there may be a romance between Hatley and Jackson - Creed and noah will not deal with this well!
Seriously this is so beautifully told and at times made my heart sag.
We glimpse Aiden and Bailey pierce in Lost Boy, no way was I expecting what was to unfold throughout this book.
Forget what you have read before because nothing can prepare you for this truly remarkable story. I am so looking forward to the next book.
I can honestly say I feel this is the authors best work, I love the good ol boys but this is something else.
Its been a whole 24 hours since reading and I cannot get it out of my head. Its just grips you and does not let you go.
the first few chapters were a punch to the gut forming your bond with the beautifully written characters, you cannot help but fall in love with cami, Aiden and Bailey. It's a story of loss and family and all the emotions that go with it. I couldn't put this one down because I wanted to know everything about them to know them better.
If you've looking for ott love scenes then move along, but if you're looking for something really special, heartbreaking and an absolute emotional rollercoaster then look no further. M Robinson writes from the heart with believable characters and dialogue.
Would I recommend this, definitely. A truly beautiful story which doesn't end here.
