I bought it with the thought that I could return it to Amazon in 30 days if it didn't work out. But, from the first time I used it, I knew I'd never be returning it.
This little baby has been a dream for making salads and salsas and soups, and it's easy to clean with the little brush they include. You do need to push it down with a bit of pressure, but neither fine motor skills nor repetition are involved. I have gone from almost never chopping vegetables to chopping them almost every day.
Every vegetable I've put in has cut perfectly. I have cut tomatoes, celery, carrots, bell peppers, onions, and cucumbers. The only trick is to know whether to put the skin up or down. In most cases, especially tomatoes, it should be up. But in some cases, like celery, the skin (ribs) should be down.
One caution: do NOT use it to cut cheese! I tried it once and immediately regretted it. But chopping vegetables is dreamy. As in, I never dreamed I'd be able to chop vegetables every day again.
When I saw the design of the Mueller Onion Chopper Pro, with the hinge fully integrated into the lid of your product, I was more than happy to spend a few more bucks to get it. I am very impressed! I finely chopped a quarter of an onion with ease! The chopper felt solid and like it could have easily handled a much more challenging food. I love the angle of the blade; very ergonomically friendly. Plus, I can leave the lid open when the chopper is empty and, unlike our earlier chopper, it didn’t feel like the whole chopper was going to tip over backwards. Additionally, clean up was a breeze, with the included brush and easily detachable blades and pusher. I can tell this will be fun to use and last a very long time.
An excellent product. I will be checking out the Mueller website to see what else they make!
Lettuce--no problem, I simply quartered a head of lettuce and fed it like nada.
celery--cut it vertically and horizontally no problem
broccoli--this one gave me trouble at first, all I did was thin the top of the stalk and it sliced it way more effecitiently. I would also literally just plant the bottom of the stalk and then let the dicing continue....better than just laying it flat, actually press on it so that the blade already has a grip on it.
carrots--same thing as the broccoli, press on it so that the blade already has it in its grasps
mushrooms--awesome to watch and do no problem
That's it folks, this is not a gimmick, it works. I don't know about longevity as I barely bought it a few weeks ago.
This chopper glides through onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, celery, apples, etc. quite easily. Root vegetables take a little more force but are still a lot easier and faster for me with this chopper. I've attached some pictures of sweet potatoes, onions, and peppers. I chopped these in less than half the time it used to take.
