I bought this CD on a whim, and it far exceeded my expectations. Edward Flower's arrangements of these folk songs (most for two guitars) are truly exquisite; each piece is a miniature artistic gem, capturing the soulful, plaintive, and often melancholy mood of these timeless tunes. This is a great CD to put on when you want to relax. Just sit back with a cup of tea, close your eyes, and let your mind drift off to the quiet meadows, shady woods, and green rolling hills of England!

I play classical guitar, and hunted this album down after hearing Sharon Isben's version of Wild Mountain Thyme (a/k/a Will You Go Lassie). Flower's arrangements and performance are superb, and a great addition to the repertoire.

This CD is amazing. The pieces are all well chosen and very well executed. The music is actually too intricate to fully appreciate in a vehicle CD player, as driving and listening are not always mutually compatible :). The first track, "The Death of QueenJane," is absolutely beautiful and I listen to the piece over and over. Google the album, as several websites offer track samples.

What a sweet, tasty wonderful album. The textures and phrasing, the lilting melodies of these timeless classic songs ... it's beautiful. I bought this almost by accident, but it's a steady companion today. Just lovely and thoughtful. Buy it.
