Now, the main reason I did not give this series a five is the fact that it is broken into so many books that are the length of a short story, approximately 100 pages. The first book is "free" with each subsequent book listed at .99 cents. By the time you get to Book 7 you've spent $7.00 - much more that you would have if it had been a single book or at most broken into two parts. And, granted Ms. Litton has stopped each book with a cliffhanger which entices you to purchase the next book for the magic .99 cents. Adding to this, the description for each book is a repeat from Book 1 so you don't really know what you are in for until you read that particular installment. I don't appreciate this marketing manipulation and had I realized this, I would not have started the series. So, buyer beware...
This is identified as a dark romance, and rightfully so, as it does include situations that could be triggers for some people. But, as dark romances go, this one is pretty mild. Even so, for the most part, I found it to be more a suspense story in the romance genre. There are some portions that are pretty gory, though, so be prepared for that, as well.
All that having been said, this was a really good story. The story line is intriguing, the characters are very well developed, and once you begin you don't want to stop reading it. Therein lies the reason I wait for the entire series.
If you have joined Kindle Unlimited, the entire series is included. If not, you can get the first volume for free and the following volumes are very reasonably priced (I believe each is $0.99). Either way, it's worth the price.
Adam is on a mission. You don't know the full details of it, only that it somehow involves Grace. They have a pull towards each other but neither is going to give for different reasons. There are so many rumors around Adam but all pointing to him being a dangerous man. The book is mostly told from Grace's POV with some point in from Adam. It leaves on a cliffhanger that leads to the next book. I am going to have to read it to get the answer I need from reading the first one.
Grace Delany. The Princess of, possibly, the most politically & financially important families in the US.
Yet Adam Falzons ancestry makes the Delanys look like a Food Stamp dependent family.
He has also been taught in the "Way of the Warrior."
As a teen, he personally killed those who killed his parents.
Chosen pt 1 is a cat & mouse game. Only Grace doesn't realize she is the target.
She only knows that Adam's presence is touching her in ways that no other man ever has.
Thinking of him is all that is needed to make her... well, like a cheap car radiator, she's boiling over... and leaking!
This was a fun and easy read.
For me, everything simply flowed. It almost didn't seem as if I needed to read, it all just came to me.
It does end with a cliffhanger. Personally, I'd rather have it all together as a single title, but here it is and I'm guessing I'll deal with it.
But I am hooked!
And I NEED to know where the next 2 books are going to take me.
