About Chris Bent
Chris Bent graduated from Yale and became a Navy SEAL UDT-21. He had the honor of recovering several spacecraft, including Gemini 6/7 & AS-201, the very first Apollo Spacecraft to go into space. After the Navy he worked in retailing in various stores including Lord & Taylor, B. Altman, Brooks Bros, J.CREW, and even the World Wrestling Federation.
He and his wife now run one of the most successful independent women's accessory stores in the country.
Troubled by all the pain and injustice in the world, the rampant bullying and abuse of women, and the eroding moral values in society, he is driven to write in brief chapters that touch universal truths. Helping us search and find where we are meant to go. Helping us make a difference. Helping us not to quit. Hopefully.

Our world is on the brink. The brink of what??
I say the brink of War.
I was writing very short blogs for my website and they kept finding converging themes. Underneath the humor and wordplay the chaos of a nation no longer united and no longer agreeing on how it became the greatest of all I see the noise of words becoming the noise of guns.
Our families and their traditional values are being attacked.
Our flag is being attacked.
Our freedoms are being attacked.
Our religions are being attacked.
Our foundations are being attacked.
This book spells it out to a “T”. Read it and find ways to make a difference. To save this special nation from itself. Read it in private. One chapter at a time and you will have some weapons to help you become an invisible soldier.
Godspeed.

In all my books there is an ominous undercurrent that something is not right in our nation. 1-800-CALL-TO-ARMS and 1-800-WHO-DARES-WINS forecast the forces of anarchy rising to confront our established traditions and values.
Moral chaos has taken to our streets. Generations of youth spoiled by permissive education systems, cell phone affirmation, an entitlement self-centered mindset and corrupt vote-driven bureaucracy has decimated manhood.
Our Flag is desecrated. Our families threatened. The noise of words has been replaced by the noise of guns. Freedoms are being strangled by legislation. Business reporting to politics.
Our cities may never be the same. Who wants to risk a commute into NYC. Will it become a ghost town? The pandemic is really politics not the virus.
All of you are needed to rise up in your own way and say “Give Me liberty, Or Give me Death!” This book will help you move forward in the right direction.

I again, was sure I was done writing; Burned out. Who in the world writes 13 books in 4 years?? Over 1,000 chapters. Granted chapters are only 2-3 pages long and all the titles make no sense; until they do.
I kept writing a chapter on something to wind down, but they are fun and then our country just erupted with accusation and political chaos. Our nation was losing its heart. Cardiac arrest, her pacemaker, the Congress, was failing or its battery was dying. It was like the Civil War all over again. The Red facing off against the Blue on an empty white field. The muskets of social media taking aim and firing. Future generations are being mortally wounded. The Truth is no longer discernible in the bias of journalists and the algorithms of the elite.
It is going to take us to be Special Warriors to get our country back in order. I immediately thought of the premier Special Operations units of the West. The motto of the British SAS (Special Air Service) is "Who Dares Wins". It is going to take all of us to come out of our comfort zones to stand up for what is right and not be left with nothing; Pun intended. There are great laughs everywhere within this book if you dare to be part of the solution.
I dare my daughters to read it, LOL.

1-800-Old-People-Matter

Today, everything that doesn’t matter seems to matter the most. When I thought about what really matters I realized the best place to find out about it is from Old People.
So with tongue in cheek I wrote some chapter titles down in the middle of the night: Forever Young, Celebrity, PTSD, Zero To Sixty, Senior Moment, Beatles, Old Girls Matter… and like that for 64 more chapters… Each chapter is rarely more than 2 pages and they are independent of one another... Each with its own nugget of gold in it.
While you read, you will be chuckling, you will be thinking… and thinking that Old People Matter. They matter a heck of a lot.
“Been there, done that says the cocky youth,” while the old person just smiles. We are at war with the erosion of family development. Traditional values are being mocked by the enlightened.
Listen to the Old People and we can win the war.
This book is for all ages, of course… but it really is for old people to be reassured that they are right, and right for the fight... The fight to leave our great grandchildren with some seeds of our wisdom about life.

1-800-OH-MY-BLACKNESS was written to try to understand why good black people and good white people have yet to fulfill their common calling. Sensational tragedy between races is not going away. Fingers are pointed. Lawyers assembled.
Children are at risk of distorted biases of truth. It is WWIII on our streets. I talk much about values, family and searches for common ground. It takes courage to be good. It takes courage to be Black. It takes courage to be White. If you care.
So try to absorb all the nuances and all the humor that points the finger at us. Find a black hand to hold. Find a white hand to hold. Then kneel.
Enjoy the journey… it is private and it matters.

I was sure I was done writing…Burned out. Who in the world writes 9 books in 2 years?? Over 500 chapters. Granted chapters are only 2-3 pages long and all the titles make no sense….
But in the middle of the night, just after Christmas 2015, the notion to write about Love popped up. From where? Well, after having written so much about values and life from its funniest to its most serious I realized that Love was inescapably a central ongoing theme. How could there be more to write and not be boring??
But here it is, and I pumped my fist after most chapters. Wow. Chapters really only take 20 minutes to write once the crazy title is put down.
WWIII has already started. We started it by being adrift. Our faces are so glued to our cell phones and social media that we can’t look up and see the storm clouds. This book is about love. About making us strong enough to fight for what we deep down care about. A must for all readers, young and not so young. It is often sophisticated and challenging. But the moral bar must be raised if we are to survive.

Writing 1-800-FOR-VETERANS-ONLY just happened while writing 1-800-OH-MY-DONALD. I had to do something for Veterans. I had started a Veterans Visiting Veterans mission in my church and at an assisted living home got some veterans to share. And share they did. Wow… humbling tales of WWII and Korea… all were so anxious to talk. And in a private atmosphere, no beer, the stories poured out. Veterans need veterans. This book is to all who are alone regardless of age. And to those I call again to serve them.
We all have our tales. Included are some of mine.
Veterans’ tales are gifts to us all, yet unopened.

1-800-OH-MY-DONALD is a commentary on the politics of our times. It seems that Mr. Donald Trump has stirred the spirit of the nation and forced a long overdue conversation on the inefficiencies of government and bureaucracy and politics.
It is not an endorsement of any political figure but more so provides the talking points they are missing. LOL
The Donald is sure controversial, but who cares? He has raised the bar.
No chapter is more than three pages and each is loaded frowns and smiles.
The book is humorous and provocative.
"Oh My Donald" OMD: Opinions Of Mass Destruction.... of the status quo....LOL
