...for sharing his story of unbelievable personal courage in the face of the godless and suffocating evil of communism in Romania, and for being a wise and loving and uncompromisingly honest Shepard to his congregation in the United States. In "Christ is Calling You" one learns the meaning of John 15:13: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." One hopes and prays that one would have had the courage to belong to the group of young Romanian seminarians and students who escorted Father George home to protect him from the "Securitate" during his 1978 Lenten homilies.

Great book! Father Calciu was a true Christian, who suffered mental and physical torture under the Communists, but he stood by his principles.
His open revolt against destroying churches in Bucharest and using the
land for building taverns and stores made his a hero.
