Paethias Demidus Arius, a legatus of Rome, had led legions against Gaul, Germania, Parthia and served under Vespasian in the Judean War. Wesley A James was born in Ohio in 1982. His father raised him and his two older brothers to be carpenters, taking them to work when they were ten years old. After high school Wesley worked his way through college assisting his father's business in construction. Eventually he became a respiratory therapist and then a registered nurse, but his passion was studying ancient history.

Eventually, Wes volunteered to go on a mission through World Gospel Mission to do carpentry in Honduras. This mission changed his outlook on life. His passion for serving God grew. He began studying Spanish and writing poetry and writing different manuscripts on ancient history. Soon he realized some things that should never be forgotten were lost, especially in the modern day atmosphere of Christianity.

Feeling compelled to teach people of the past persecutions and identity of Christianity, he decided to write "The Christian and the Lion". After returning to missions in Central America, he then decided to proceeds from his writing and to fund mission work in Honduras and Guatemala. In these countries where poverty and starvation are epidemics, two missions providing food for the poor and education will be supplemented with his writing to help teach impoverished children about Jesus Christ.

is a book in which the reader is able to visualize the scenery being described and feel the emotions of the characters as they struggle with their faith or lack of faith. I can see this book becoming popular and even being made into a movie, if the author approves. I would recommend this book to anyone because, not only is it a proclamation of faith, it is a story book filled with human emotion and images of mythology that anyone can appreciate. Definitely looking forward to Volume 2.

This book is great. It isn't often I read a book where someone with a very dark history is used by God to fight off evil. It kept my interest, and though it has some long names, it really puts you in Rome. This story has love, and hate, selfishness and selflessness on both sides, and it shows us that the difference isn't us, but God in us. Great book, I am looking forward to the next one!

I took my time reading this novel then throttled to the finish when time aloud. I enjoyed the descriptive writing that painted a clear picture of how terrifying it would be to be a Christian under Nero’s rule during the time of the circus Maximus .

The Christian and the Lion is one of those books that you will not want to put down. The book is beautifully written, full of emotion, filled with action and is simply a blessing to read. The author gives the reader a look back at persecution. In the midst of the darkness the reader is able to see God’s light. It is a reminder for us all to be the light in a dark world and to show others the hope we have in Christ! Excellent book! I look forward in reading the next book!

This book brings the Roman Empire and early christian faith to life! In light of current events, it draws parallels to the battle that has been waged since the Garden of Eden—good vs evil. I thought it was especially ironic how the government of the day set the agenda for “truth” and tried to control the masses in much the same way that our government and the media are trying to do today. History repeats itself!! Very insightful and well done!
