This book is one of the most approachable writings by Bathasar. It provides great insight into the how to develop a deeper relationship with God. I am not a theologian, but I still enjoyed (and am enjoying) the richness and depth of this work.

WOW!!!!

This book is the best I have ever read on understanding the vocation and mission of Christians. It spends time developing the theology behind marriage, religious life, secular priests, and secular institutes. It can help any Christian searching for a deeper understanding of God's call and man's response to Him.

It is my favorite Balthasar book yet!

Like Scotch, Balthasar is an acquired taste. Much of his writings are not for beginning Christians. He is probably the most knowledgable theologian of the Western canon and he takes the reader past the level of apologetics to the application of Christian beliefs in enhancing our spiritual lives. Although the text can be difficult at times the insights one gains into the spiritual life is well worth the effort. Of all the volumes of his works this book is one of the more readable.
