Many of the characters in this book will be familiar to readers of the Infernal Aether series, with the addition of some interesting new faces to add to the mix.
The basic story is that one of the main characters has been abducted and taken to a place that is basically hell but which goes by the name Almadel.
The intrepid team pull together a group which include humans, an alien race called the pooka and a couple of demons to go after the kidnappee.
The descriptions of Almadel are well detailed and very cleverly written.
In exchange for help retrieving their kidnapped friend and colleague, the group of friends agree to assist a small group of dissident slaves and lower class aliens who are workers on Almadel, to battle the hierarchy of their world for control.
What follows is an epic battle and struggle for freedom that involves the demons of Almadel and the joint armies of Earth. I couldn't sit still in my seat as the battle raged on the pages before me, it was so exciting and full of action and unexpected twists and turns. Nothing could be taken at face value, everyone had something to gain. Who were the real enemies?
The final chapters were absolutely gripping stuff...I was on the edge of my seat by now and I just couldn't imagine how the good guys would win. The situation called for radical action on behalf of our heros, and nothing could have pulled me away from the book as the final three chapters unfolded before me. What a battle...what an brilliant ending! What an amazing book!
I don't think you will be disappointed if you get this book. It really delivers a wonderful full action filled story.
