Review

This is a wonderful intense, emotional Christmas read that is very well-written. Have you ever wished for a second chance even if it is years later? Olivia and Brett are very likable. I love that Brett is so carefree and goes after what he wants. I did think I was going to have to stop a couple of chapters shy of finishing but I continued on and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book and the ending.

Do you believe in Christmas Miracles? The Christmas Bridge is a story about a woman who travels to New York on business and has a "magical" encounter on a bridge in Central Park. Years back she made a difficult decision that changed the course of her life.  Now she must makes another life-changing decision.  Will it be a mistake? Was her first decision a mistake?

This is a wonderful story about making choices and living with those choices.  Allow yourself to be swept away by this well-written and engaging romance.
The characters are interesting, realistically developed and likeable. The supporting background scenes are descriptively written and easily pictured.  The Christmas Bridge will enhance your holiday reading.

The Christmas Bridge is a lovely contemporary Christmas romance, and it does a great job of giving you a few hours of escapism and joy before you have to return to whatever prosaic reality you typically inhabit.

This is the first book I have read from this author. I can honestly say, without a doubt, it won't be my last.  I couldn't put it down, I took it in the car and listened while driving to work!

A truly beautiful and amazing story! I just love these kinds of books at Christmas time - magical!

The Christmas Bridge is a tale of love. That is as simple as the definition can get. It is the story of Olivia, a widow. The story opens with Olivia sitting alone during the Christmas season, nearly a year after her husband, Carl’s death. She feels empty, alone and depressed. An opportunity to travel to New York on work arises and Olivia, in a sudden decision, contacts an old friend, Andrew. Memories of a forgotten past resurface and Olivia feels guilty and confused about her now obsolete marriage and her future. When she goes to New York, fate has a different surprise in store for her. She faces a forked road and has to decide. Olivia’s indecision had already cost her heavily in the past. A lot depends on how she acts and what she decides when fate gives her a second chance. She faces a life turning event on a bridge that holds many memories. The events that happen from then on in her life form the rest of the story.

There is a maturity in the writing that lacks in other stories of this genre. While it is not about the feelings of adolescent romance, it does not lack the butterfly moments either. The word ‘maturity’ covers all aspects of the story, including the physically descriptive scenes, that are, thankfully, part of the narrative and do not stand out like sore thumbs. The narrative is fast paced; there are enough twists throughout the story line that maintain suspense and interest. The beginning is a bit dull and stereotypical, but the story that follows has a steady good feel to it. The chapter organisation follows a proper sequence and the characters are deep, life like and well etched.

The plot is predictable mostly, save a few turns, and the language is pleasant. There are a few memorable lines from the book, those that are of a reflective nature.

The Christmas Bridge is the story of a woman's journey of self-discovery and getting a second chance at true love.

Olivia is a forty year old widow who travels to New York City on a business trip a few days before Christmas. While taking a walk in Central Park, Olivia has an unexpected chance encounter with Brett Baylor, a professional baseball player on Bow Bridge, a landmark that holds nostalgic twenty year old memories of Andrew, her old college love. With a chance to reconnect with Andrew and rekindle an old romance, or take a chance on a new romance with Brett, Olivia is faced with the challenge to make a decision that could bring her another chance at love and happiness.

The authors weave a lighthearted and emotional holiday romance tale that will pull at your heartstrings and stir the soul. Written in the third person narrative, the reader is easily drawn into Olivia's journey as she learns to deal with the life issues that she faces: love and loss, questioning one's life choices, and the decision of which road/path is best to take in one's life in order to get a second chance at love and happiness. Can NYC provide a little Christmas miracle of redemption, resolution, and a chance to move forward for Olivia?

This is a lovely story that will draw the reader in from the start, and have them experiencing the full gamut of emotions. You can't help by relate to Olivia, and feel compassion for her as she struggles to restart her life after a traumatic heartbreak. I couldn't help but cheer Olivia and Brett on, hoping that their romance would take wings, and that Olivia would have the strength to finally let go of the past, and embrace a new chance of love and happiness.

I don’t read contemporary romances very often. Most of my dear readers know that my favorite books are historical, literary fiction, memoirs, biographies, and some non-fiction. However, I do diverge from those every once in a rare while. Something about ‘The Christmas Bridge’ intrigued me enough to get me to read it. I think it was a combination of the beautiful snow covered bridge on the cover and that it is a book written by a husband and wife team.

Olivia is a 40 year old woman whose husband died of a heart attack a year ago. She has not been able to move on with her life since. Even her dear father-in -law, Taylor Scott thinks it is time for her to move on.

Olivia is an art and antiques business and is asked by her boss to go on a business trip to New York City for him. She is to attend a action and place some bid. However, he is also hoping that the trip with allow Olivia to move on and have a little fun. Olive attended NYU and met her college boyfriend Andrew in Central Park on the ‘Bow Bridge’.

Olivia arrives in New York and takes a walk in Central park and visits her favorite place there, ‘Bow Bridge’. There she meets the very famous baseball player, Brett Baylor. However, she has no idea who he is but is attracted to him. He invites her out to dinner at a local hang out of his and Olivia can believe what a commotion there is over Brett. People are taking photos of him with their cell phone and asking for his autograph. Olivia has to ask him why people are so interested in him and is embarrassed by it. However Brett finds it quite refreshing that she has no idea who he is.

Mean while, Olivia has also made plans to meet Andrew for dinner. She hasn’t seen him in 20 years and wonder if there will still be an attraction between them.
