Once Hannah figured out what was going all she had to do was phone Mike (or the police), but did she? No she rushed right in to the detriment of a character. Perhaps the police should either read her the riot act of charge her with obstruction of justice. This is just one of the ways the story doesn't ring true.
Hope the next book the author can change the MO slightly or make the characters more believable.
This sounds nothing at all like her voice, nor have the last two before this.
This is not a book, it is a short story. A badly written rehashed short story.
The latest isn't really a book, more like a novella with recipes. I counted, 206 pages of story total, but subtract out the 48 pages of recipes, that leaves 158 pages of actual repetitive, bloated, same-old same-old story with cardboard characters. For $20 if you pay full retail. As others have suggested, better they should have published this along with a couple other authors' Christmas stories.
It's a flashback so in the story she isn't married to Ross & the Mike vs Norman subplot stumbles on, which is disorienting in the order of things, since in the previous book Hannah did marry the sleazeball & not Norman. (Guess which side of that I'm on.) While reading, I had a lot of "wait, why is she cuddling with Norman while married to Ross" kind of thoughts. And the killer is a far-fetched choice, possibly because while Lake Eden seems to have no shortage of murders for such a tiny town, it does seem to be running out of plausible murderers.
Maybe the next book will be The First Anniversary Split? We can only hope -- for divorce cuz IMO it would be just too harsh for Hannah - the Official Body Finder of Lake Eden - to discover Ross's body.
Now I'm off to find some more Leslie Meier cozies at the library. I suggest others do the same. Would take the dull taste of this product out of your mouth.
