If you ever wanted a book to get you into the holiday spirit, this is it. Immediately as soon as you open up the cover, the holiday classic jumps right at you. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous and really bring to life this classic holiday tale. My favorite is the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Personally this has always been my favorite Ghost throughout the entire story but seeing it in all its terror and glory was outstanding here. It's exactly how I pictured it to be and the presentation is haunting and magnificent.
The only tiny blip was that one of the scenes can be easily missed because it's tucked inside of another scene. I almost didn't see it had it not been for me pondering why that certain page was thicker than the other pages. Since it's s tucked in and has to be manually opened, I suggest being quite fragile with it. The book is not something that has to be opened with gloved hands and put behind a glass case but I would recommend handling it carefully as not to tear the pop ups in anyway.
Included with the book is the complete text of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, broken up in five booklets (including one with a nifty cover). This is nice because it breaks up the reading.Read more ›

I cannot say enough good things about Chuck Fisher's pop-up books!! A Christmas Carol is a timeless story, but now enriched in a pop up book! The colors are rich and vibrant, and the pop-ups are so creative and detailed. The paper they are printed on is thick and of high-quality, so it will last for many many years. Included with the book is a small pamphlet that details Charles Dicken's life. There are also five, removable booklets that have wonderful illustrations that have the entire text of A Christmas Carol. This is definitely a keepsake and one to treasure. It would be perfect for gift giving this upcoming holiday season or get one for yourself. It is truly a remarkable piece of art with a timeless story to show and tell again and again.
Pop-up books are so nifty, having that appeal of feeling like you can really get into that world. There are lots of nooks and crannies to study here and enjoy.
I recommend opening pages slowly, to ensure longer life, and to fully appreciate the construction. Six booklets are included, tucked into their respective pockets.
A treasure to view every holiday season!
The story itself is contained in five little booklets which also contain interesting information and trivia about Dickens with lots of archival photographs of the period etc. but the font is too tiny to make for comfortable reading and certainly does not hold up to reading with young children, which is a pity because this is a story meant to be read with the young and I almost wish they had come up with an abridged version of the story.
The pop-ups are beautiful and engaging - depicting highlights from the story, focusing mainly on Scrooge's encounter with the Spirit of Christmas past, present, and future. The last pop-up is especially striking and had my daughter oohing and aahing in delight. I think this makes a nice addition to anyone's Christmas book collection, but it could have done with some improvements.

The binding of the book was cracked. Pop ups are too big for the book to close properly. There are five pages. Two of city scenes and one of each "ghost". Read morePublished 7 months ago by kc2012
