Jesse’s Christmas - A heart frozen by betrayal at Christmas is thawed and a muse is found
Deefur and the Great Mistletoe Incident- reason I bought collection. Is the shortest of the 3 but finishes off a great story or starts a new family on its way
Book two is Jesse’s Christmas. A mesmerizing story with great writing. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were well developed and thought out. Jesse and Gabriel are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, a criminal ex, FBI, a photographer, candle making, children, a Christmas Play, snow and so much more in this book. Here is a quote from the book, “Stop,” Jesse said loudly—probably not what Mr Dressed-as-a-snowman expected, even though he did, in fact, stop shoveling. “I’m sorry?” he queried. He pulled at the scarf across his face and frowned at Jesse, then down at the cleared snow. … “Photos of …?” “Virgin snow. Can you please stop shoveling?” Panic filtered through him at the thought of not getting this photo now, and it wiped out any attempt he might make at social niceties. Yes, he was coming across rude, butin his head, he justified the rudeness as he always did. Artists were temperamental, and people made exceptions for his behavior all the time. “I can give you five,” Shovel Guy said slowly and leaned on the tool he wielded with such deadly photo-destroying accuracy.”. There is more but you will need to read the book.
The third story is Deefur and the Great Mistletoe Incident which is the second book in The Deefur Series. A charming story the writing was great. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters delightful. The characters were well developed and thought out. Cameron and Jason are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, a great dane, mistletoe, cookies, a daughter, elephants, snow and ice, bad memories, a surprise and so much more in this book. Here is a quote from the book, “Right, we’re done,” Jason announced. He stood and picked up the bike. “We gonna wrap this?” he asked doubtfully. “We could just put a throw over it, or undo a roll of paper and somehow…” He stopped, then turned the bike this way and that. “I love that you are even stopping to consider what to do.” Jason wrinkled his nose. “I want this Christmas to be perfect for Emma.” He looked Cameron in the eye. “It’s important to me.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Angel in a Book Shop
A true Christmas story that will warm your heart. It gave me that quintessential feeling of old English books. I could picture myself walking through the streets of London, browsing in the quaint little shops, and stopping to look for that long-wanted novel.
Burned out and stressed by his father’s death and the lay-off at his bank, Josh is at a crossroads and has some serious decisions to make. When he meets Michael, who has an art gallery next door to his father’s old bookstore all becomes clearer every day. Just as much as Michael grounds Josh and is his support and guide, Josh is affecting Michael’s life and beliefs. They find their true love that only comes once in a thousand years.
Even for Josh’s mother life becomes brighter and lighter again.
A story full of love and hope with that bit of magic that can only happen around Christmas time.
A great variation of the Christmas Grinch. Jesse hates Christmas and everything that has to do with Christmas as that was when his ex stole his money and left him high and dry. However, he has to earn a living, and his assignment is to take pictures to capture the Christmas feeling. He travels to Eden Vale, a small town in Vermont, where everything breathes the true Christmas spirit.
As soon as he meets Gabriel, Jason knows that this Christmas will change his life. It is an instant attraction, but a slow falling in love. Every day brings more Christmassy things, every day the ice around his heart melt a little bit more.
Gabriel doesn’t need big gestures to coax Jason into the Christmas spirit and into his arms. All he needs to be himself and let Jason feel for himself.
Cleverly written with the right combination of funny moments, insightful thoughts, and sweet feelings.
Deefur and the Great Mistletoe Incident
This is the shortest of the three stories. It is a sequel to Deefur Dog and picks up where Jason and Cameron are in a committed relationship. He knows Jason is the one for him, and he is waiting for the right time to pop the big question. But Deefur wouldn’t be Deefur if he didn’t throw a spanner in the works.
It is light, funny, and sweet. With a little hint of sad feelings as Cameron shows his fear for the future, but that won’t deter him from what he knows is the best decision he will ever make.
