From the Author

Confessions of a Paris Potty Trainer

Petite Confessions
A quick glimpse into what Vicki's life in Paris is really like. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to open another bottle of wine.

Reading this book was like having girly drinks with one of my best friends as she regaled me with her tales over several glasses of wine. Totally engaging and enjoyable. I'd not read any of Vicki's books before but this didn't matter at all regarding my understanding. The stories zip along in slightly crazy way that are great fun and easy to read. Love the cocktails interspersed. As a result, I've now read Vicki's Confessions books (Party Girl and Potty Trainer) which are equally zappy and full of energy. Would be a great stockfiller for someone or a gift for a girlfriend.

This is a collection of interesting and entertaining Christmas memories. It revived memories from my own holidays past. The tales are told with humor, nostalgia and sadness. Readers will laugh, cry and at times sigh. They will relate to the author's memories. An added bonus is the inclusion of some good cocktail recipes to be added to one's repertoire. It was a good read.

This is the latest in Vicki's Paris Confessions series of memoirs. This book is written in the same fun lively style of writing that I have come to expect from her memoirs about her life in France, but this one was a little different. I found a more mellow side to Vicki here; the wild party girl was somewhat replaced by someone to whom family life is obviously very important, as important in fact, as having a good time.

This book includes twenty-five fun snippets of her life, loosely centered on the Christmas theme; both before and after she moved to France and many of these snippets are from times in her life when her family is together and celebrating. As usual she includes the bad as well as the good, but all are told in a way that made me smile. At the end of each one is an invitation to join her in a celebratory cocktail (or two), well, OK it is just the recipes, but it felt like she was inviting me to join in her fun.

Cheers Vicki, thanks for another fun read and have a great Christmas!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As soon as I saw the cover and blurb of Christmas Confessions and Cocktails I knew I was in for a treat. In this collection of essays, Vicki Lesage recounts her most memorable Christmas experiences. Her true stories are so hilarious I had to pause several times because I couldn't stop laughing (except for one story about her grandfather that was so sad and touching I nearly cried). The anecdotes are recognizable too. The part about re-gifting Christmas presents, for example, reminded me of my mom who once re-gifted me a present I gave her a few years earlier. (Note from my mom: “No, I didn't.”)

And the cocktail recipes? Most of them are mouth-watering and contain ingredients such as vanilla vodka, crème de cacao, and green tea. Yes, please.

Christmas Confessions and Cocktails is seriously addictive and will instantly make you feel good. Can someone please give me Vicki Lesage's other books for Christmas? I promise I won't re-gift them.

This one has it all - funny (mostly funny), but even poignant, cringe-worthy, and to-die-for-sweet. I was hesitant to read it because I don't drink alcohol, but the cocktail recipes are a perfect addition (with even some virgin ones thrown in) - the perfect salt on the rim for those who love cocktail recipes (there are 25), and a non-distracting aside for those who don't.

What you'll get are stories. Vignettes from the author's life before France, and afterwards. I've read some of her other books, and if you like the zany backdrop her large family provides (I do), this one will not disappoint. It's a perfect light read that combines everything the season has to offer - joy, relationships, hope, laughter, and ... faceplants. Which may or may not have had to do with the cocktails. But I shall say no more.

Another great read from Ms. Lesage. In this latest collection of humorous essays, I especially enjoyed the peeks into growing up and her hilarious family conversations. Even though a few of these 25 essays (25 December=Christmas, geddit?) have been seen in other publications, she tied together the whole theme of Christmas with funny stories on gift-giving, love, holiday travel, etc. and the drinks are good fun.
Highly recommend this for a cozy, fun read from an author writing with heart and sass - just like it says there on the cover!!!

I feel that Christmas is fast approaching. Probably because I've been watching some Christmassy movies recently, and reading Christmas Confessions & Cocktails helps with the mood. I've read Vicki Lesage's previous books, and fell in love with the author's style and voice. They're witty, light and highly entertaining. Christmas Confession & Cocktails is no different. I'm still in love the author's voice and writing.

In this entertaining Christmas memoir, the author has collected 25 short stories of her Christmas memories from her childhood up to her married life. There are a few stories in this book which had been included in the previous books, but I'm okay with it. It was nice to reread them again. It was fun to read the parts about a few differences in celebrating the holidays in France and America. Or perhaps it was differences of family traditions?

There are some humorous, crazy, heartwarming and saddening moments. And, in the end, what really matters in this holiday is being with your family, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the author's big family through this book. It reminds me a bit of my family when everyone was still around.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wanted to get into the holiday spirits, especially since Christmas is just months away. And even if you're not celebrating Christmas, Christmas Confessions & Cocktails by Vicki Lesage is still a light and fun book to read. Plus, the author has been generous to share a few cocktail recipes that you might want to try.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review.
