If there is anything negative about the release, it's the sound engineering, and then that complaint is from a "purist" view. Listening on IEMs, I must have counted 20 different mics in the sessions, producing an overall multi-channel-mono sense, especially during the sound decays, very little "air" around the instrument sections.
This is just a quibble, I love the artistry of the players and the conductor, and especially the new arrangements of traditional Christmas works.

A caveat: "Maltese Winter" is an original composition by Todd Hayen, who also arranged seven of the seventeen tracks offered on this CD. The piece is a beautifully luxuriant and romantic orchestration that does not bring to mind a Christmas or a winter setting. Nevertheless, it makes for a gratifying listening experience.
"Christmas Fantastique" is a feast for the ears; prepare yourself for an aural adventure!
Most modern day Christmas Albums have too much of the contemporary sound. This is pleasantly Classical but with a huge Christmas Spirit!
Very pretty and festive ~ it's impossible to be in a sad mood with this playing! Do Not pass this one up if you love the Christmas Season.
