Scarlett and Gil meet in Anchorage where Scarlett is in charge of a project to put Alaska on the Top 10 Christmas Spirit list. That’s not an easy feat for a person with no Christmas spirit. Having lived in Anchorage during the winter, I can vouch that it’s a difficult transition for an Arizonan. Great read that sweet contemporary romance readers are sure to love.
To make things more difficult, her fiancé wants her to choose a date for their wedding as soon as possible, while Gil, the not too charming doctor she meets in Alaska, is growing deep in her heart. To add to the mix, there is Gil's cold girlfriend and the fact that he has to return to sunny California pretty soon. She probably can figure it all out, by the time Dec rolls along…but what can she do about the increasing cold that is dampening her heart?
This charming tale is full of believable characters with their growing pains. Christmas Future by Valerie Ipson is a clean romance full of Christmas joy and miracles. It is worth your time and money. It will be a great addition to your Christmas list.
I received a free copy for my honest opinion.
SPOILERS? (Not to regular romance readers, lol)
So there was too much left in the dark by skipping past Scarlett's breakup with Alan. Nor did I understand her getting the Aunt's event back while she was thinking of breaking up with Alan - how would she have handled that awkwardness? Was she just going to use him & break up afterward? Of course she lost the event after the break up happened anyway but how'd that go? It sounded like Alan's mom had issues but that never got explained either. But the most frustrating thing was to reach the point where the heroine and hero get together & find myself trying to figure out "Wait, they were interested in each other, but then she had some serious issues with him & was avoiding him, but her friend had her supposed to be going to finally let him explain himself to her, but instead she gets there & she's telling him she loves him? Where & how did it go from interest to love? Is this book missing some chapters?"
So unfortunately I went from loving the story to getting restless to practically face palming. Sigh. After processing the let down, I went ahead and added back a 1/2 star. The writing is good & the story ends well. I don't know if I'll be rereading it, but at least it was good enough that I'm open to reading more by the author.
Clean romance level: sweet kisses
