In a way I felt bad for Mark, but then again, he was the one who left them all behind without warning for years, and never tried to contact them. And actions always have consequences. I think there was a lesson learned.
CV = resume
lounge = living room
lift = elevator
flat = apartment
partner = husband, wife, spouse (In the USA a partner is more likely a business relationship than a personal one and sometimes, in western slang, is used as a term for a buddy, pal, compatriot.)
kitchen bench = kitchen counter or countertop
mate = spouse (unless it is used as a flat mate, which we would call a roommate.)
The terms "sweet as" and "full stop" aren't used at all in general conversation. (Well, I use them, but I like unusual things.)
Aside from that...
This is a good book. I like this Author and own many of her books. Without the irritation I would give this book 4 to 4½ stars.

Emma has a very full life and is not looking for romance but Jack manages to sneak his way into her heart and that of the twins too! Jack may not be searching for love and HEA, but the minute he sees Emma he knows she is special, knows he has to do everything he can to get to know her better. When her past comes back and threatens the future they are building will he fight for her or will he walk away?
Will have to read more of this series. Another thing is that it is a stand alone which I find a plus.
