I LOVE this book. The author, Marley Gibson is a friend, which is how I first became aware of the book. When she told me of the concept I got excited and have been eagerly waiting for it to come out. When I received it, I dove right in and it was even more moving than I expected it to be. What makes this book so special? This is a collection of true stories, of 'miracles' that happened to ordinary people around the holidays, which brought them closer to God, and made them truly appreciate the meaning of Christmas. I laughed and cried more than once as I made my way through the stories here.

This book offers hope during a time that is darker than usual for many people. The stories are inspirational and each one offers a unique perspective and affirms that there is something else out there, something wonderful and beautiful and good.

This book offers comfort and warmth and good cheer and I plan to purchase multiple copies to give as Christmas gifts to people I care about and who can benefit from the uplifting stories in this book.

Christmas Miracles by Cecil Murphey & Marley Gibson is the perfect book to help you get in the right frame of mind for the holidays by reminding you of what Christmas is really all about. The authors have taken true stories from a variety of authors about their own Christmas miracles. Births, deaths, injuries, and poverty are themes all touched on here, each with their own message of hope and faith. I definitely recommend keeping a box of tissues handy while reading. The stories are overflowing with emotion and written to remind readers that Christmas is a time of miracles, starting with the first one over two thousand years ago with the birth of a baby boy in a manger who came to save the world. Some miracles in this story are of the huge, biblical variety, others are far smaller, more a matter of the heart, but each is a reminder that God loves each and every one of us.

Christmas Miracles helped me stay in the mood for the true meaning of Christmas, despite all the many distractions that the world has placed on the holiday. Some of the stories moved me to tears, others made me laugh, and all of them are uplifting and point to the saving power of Jesus Christ. This is what we need to cling to when the commercialism of Christmas starts creeping in. Trees and Santa are fun, but this book exemplifies the real reason for the season through the amazing miracle of Jesus's birth and the many miracles that God works in our lives still today.

I believe in miracles and answered prayers. Before I bought this book I read several Guidepost books and enjoyed them a lot. This one - not so much. These stories are written by professional writers. Many of them are about poor families with multiple healthy but hungry children and someone provides them a Christmas meal. One story is about a couple who tried to conceive for a whole year, then miscarried and had a successful international adoption. Another is about a man surviving a heart attack. Yet another is about a woman who wanted poinsettias for Christmas and received them. Whole book is full of these "miracles". I was disappointed. No wonder this is a bargain book. Get one from Guidepost instead with true miracles.

Edit: One of the writers found my review unhelpful (I wonder why) and left a comment. Please notice that some reviews of the book were written by author's friends and stories' writers (some provided disclaimers). Personally I found stories in this book completely uninspiring and shared my honest opinion with prospective buyers. And In the future I will only buy Guidepost books when I crave miracle stories and renewed faith.

This is the perfect book to help you get into Christmas by reminding you of what Christmas is really all about. The authors have taken true stories from different authors and wrote them into this book. These are all short stories about miracles that has happened to different people. They are so touching that you may even see a miracle that has happened to you! Their is a story about everything from births, deaths, injuries, and poverty , each with their own message of hope and faith. You can sit down and read one short story or read as many as you want, one thing I am sure of it that this book will touch your heart and let you remember the reason for the season of Christmas. I hope these stories remind readers that Christmas is a time of miracles, starting with the first one over two thousand years ago with the birth of a baby boy in a manger who came to save the world.

Thanks so much to Revell Publishing for sending me this book to review.

Guideposts is a Christian Magazine that offers short personal testimonies of how one's faith supports them in this secular world. This book is a compilation of Guidepost like stories that many will find easy to read, enjoyable and worthwhile. In fact, all things considered, I enjoyed it. So, why not a better rating?

Not really sure as to the answer to that question. I believe in Angels, I believe that God sometimes answers heartfelt prayers in a positive manner and that often at Christmastide, we seem to find more evidence of that than any other time of the year. Perhaps, this book was too much of a good thing. Perhaps I had a hard time really seeing the miraculous in some the writers accounts of receiving their acts of grace. Perhaps it's because it's a Christmas book that I read in Ordinary Time.

Or perhaps, it's because I believe there is a certain amount of human goodness that spills forth in times of trial; when we see our blessings magnified when compared to those whose lot is misfortune.

Bottom line, do YOU want to purchase and read this work? Why not, if its premise appeals to you. It's easy to pickup, read a few pages, put down and pick back up at a later time. It offers a lot of redemption if that's what you're seeking. My only complaint would be that sometimes the goodness of one's heart is assigned to God alone and although He created us, He put that love in our hearts to FREELY share and that should be recognized as what it is rather than just a "miracle" from God.
