Liam MacLeod, descendant of Iain and Marion MacLeod, is now Laird and visiting London to meet with his sister’s intended when he comes to the rescue of Miss Cecelia Cartwright.
Miss Cecelia Cartwright has the misfortune of ruined reputation, a father who put the family in financial ruin and a mother who demands Cecelia must marry for money. Which makes her encounter with the impoverished Laird Liam MacLeod hard to bear as she is fascinated by the Scotsman.
Ms. Johnstone does a remarkable job giving us a glimpse into the future for descendants from her amazing Highlander Vows series!
If you want to read about several generations down the line then purchase this book. The characters were not developed as fully as the rest of the series and if I had read it first I would not have purchased the rest of the series at all. It did not seem as if it was written by the same author. If it was possible I would give it 2 1/2 stars, I very rarely post a negative review as I would rather not post one at all but book 3 is out of sequence and in my opinion should be purchased last or not at all.
This is a clean story and it just seemed right since it takes place at Christmas time. There is a misunderstanding that didn't last forever. Great secondary character's that I hope get their own HEA as our couple do. We are treated to an ending one year in the future that warmed my heart.
I am not going into the premise, as many have explained it, just what you may get out of reading this story. I own many books by this author and she knows how to pull you into her stories until the end. (ljb)
