The crux of the story is not a *great mystery* -- it's readily suspected, early-on, so I'll not spoil anything for anyone by this review, I'm quite sure. The Christmas Visitor is predictable, but good. I believe you can safely read to the end of my thoughts here.
My mom admires the acting, thoroughly enjoys the characters, the love, loss, challenge, joy, possibility; the undying love that bridges all separation and the quiet gratitude that the story portrays. The acting is quite good: we both would agree that the mom's anger and pain is well-depicted by Meridith Baxter; the sister's sense of deep loss well done and, William Devane brings his quiet, steady warmth and likeability to the character of the father.
It's all a better *package*/storyline than most Hallmark offerings, I would agree -- if one believes/has hopes for or faith in life-after-death, or is intrigued by some sort of afterlife/continuum. I can imagine this story being a prompt for family/friend discussions of this oft-speculated upon subject.
