Both Damon and Lil's parents have come to town. This is the first time either have met their future parents-in-law, and, let's be honest, that's never something you want to do in the middle of planning a wedding. While Lil's parents settle easily back into Ashford, Damon's mother, Olivia, has a lot to say about the town and, most especially, her future daughter-in-law. She's a conniving old bitty that one. She doesn't think Lil is good enough for her son, so she's determined to put a stop to the whole thing.
Olivia is a superb character, in so much as I absolutely despised her. She drives the conflict in Christmas Wedding at the Gingerbread Café, putting a wedge between our sexy Damon and sweetheart Lil, and building the some fairly dramatic tension. Don't worry though, all is resolved, mostly because Lil is so forgiving (I would not have been! Hah).
There are more delicious cakes and gingerbread and scrumptious goodies to vicariously enjoy in this novel, and I think Rebecca Raisin really took their descriptions to an even more torturously delectable level this time round! My goodness. CAKE!
It's really hard to sum up my feelings about this final installment of what has been such a beautiful journey. By the end I was sobbing - big heaving gasps of wedding-love-baby happiness combined with the sadness of losing book friends. Clearly Lil's leaky eyes are contagious.Read more ›

What a stunning and absolutely beautiful cover!!! ♥♥♥
Yay, we are back in Ashford, home of the Gingerbread Café. Reading this book made me fall in love with the place, the café and the characters all over again, especially with Damon. He’s just so wonderful, caring, sweet and a great dad ♥.
Then, of course there is Lil, our main character. Lil has such a big heart, she is so sweet, caring and full of passion for her café.
Damon and Lil are such an adorable couple, they really belong to each other. I loved all their scenes together, just so magical.
They are in the middle of the Christmas preparations when Damon’s parents arrive early.
Lil sees herself struggling with Damon’s mother Olivia. That woman shows her that she doesn’t want Lily as Damon’s wife and Lil starts to question and overthink everything, so a little drama was part of the story as well.
Lily’s friends are great: CeeCee, Missy and Sarah. They are a great combination, helping each other where they can. Sarah is still happy with Ridge, which makes me so happy.
Each chapter was dedicated to one day before the wedding, so we had 10 days, the wedding and the epilogue. Aww, this epilogue, the perfect ending to this wonderful series, does it really have to be over?!
I loved being in this little world, I felt like being there myself and I would definitely want to live there. Rebecca’s writing makes this world seem so vivid and real.
Oh and of course there was Damon’s little girl Charlie as well, she’s such a cutie and added some sweet sparks into this story.
The wedding day was the highlight of this novella, full of emotions and some touching moments.
Thank you for writing this story Rebecca. It’s the perfect festive feel-good book to snuggle up to in bed. Brilliantly written ♥.
This book was emotionally driven, I was hungry, sad, worried, bothered, happy, swooning, and my favorite... lots of laughter. There were a few moments that I have continued to laugh about even several days after reading...let's just say Jaws and flamingos.
Lil & Damon are such a great warm couple...and they along with the rest of the characters were so well developed, I can't wait to go and read more about all of them in the other books.

If the author had put the three bits of books together, she might have created a salvageable novel. The last book had better character development, but still unrealistic time... Read morePublished 9 months ago by MissMommy
