So this revised version was even better than the original and it includes three of Rayez's recipes at the back -one which sounds especially yummy - and there's still a day left to buy it and have the purchase price go to a good cause.
Our fire djinn is flawed and has been banished to the human world because he created great damage as a result of his uncontrolled temper, but it seems that time in the human world and meeting some really special people has helped him control it. An angry fire djinn is a dangerous thing. Selene has been under the control of her evil step-father since her mother's death year ago. She would do anything to protect her brother Cade but she discovers that "anything" might have a new face when her heart becomes involved.
This was great fun, Ms Khan. The only thing that I have left to say about it is...MORE PLEASE!
This edition boasts extra material which really expands the story more than I thought possible, and it contains recipes to boot! The last will make much more sense once you read it. Heck, the story begins with Rayez, our hero, offering a girl a bowl of his homemade soup.
This isn't about soup, however. This is partly about Rayez, the fire djinn, and partly about Selene, who was made into a dopplegänger (by force rather than by choice) by her evil stepfather, Warren. She was forced to do his bidding because he had control over both her physical body and over her little brother, Cade.
That left her in the role of traitor as she took advantage of kindness to trap Rayez, binding him to a beer bottle! Additionally, poor Rayez only came to Warren's attention after he did a heroic deed. There is definitely a sense in the beginning that . . . No good deed does go unpunished.
How would Rayez fare at the bidding of a monster? Could Selene and her brother ever truly escape the madman? I don't want to give away too much, so I'll stop my summary there.
I loved both versions of this story. The more recent one was terrific, of course, because it simply contained more to love! Magic, romance, and superb story-telling. What's not to love?!
Thanks to the author, Mina Khan, for another fantastic tale!
